One wonders whether Michelle Wie will ever reach her previous playing level again. I suspect her recent problems are more mental than physical, and it's tough to overcome that. Especially for someone pushed into the profession at such a young age.

Mickelson out today also.

I saw that. Sounds like he jacked up his wrist while practicing at Oakmont.

She is talented but immature. She could be fun to watch but her childish pouting on occasion is irritating. I think someone was pushing her too hard.

I worry about her fragile bones being under such sever trauma at age 13. She would wind up and hit that ball harder than many guys I know, plus her unusual growth and height. Wouldn’t that play a factor in her injuries?
Any Orthopedics out there?

What’s wrong with her wrists? My God, she’s just a child. Too much golf?
Or is the wrist injury story just an excuse to allow her to escape a dreadful round?

Don't you have win something before you become a star or is she a victim of too many "participation" ribbons?

Whats wrong with her wrists? My God, shes just a child. Too much golf? She fell and broke one while running a few months ago. But I'm not sure why it's still "bandaged" unless she needs additional support for it. The cynical side of me wonders whether the bandage isn't just to set up a preemptive excuse.

Don't you have win something before you become a star or is she a victim of too many "participation" ribbons It isn't about actual achievement - it's about symbolism. < /sarcasm >

Don't you have win something before you become a star or is she a victim of too many "participation" ribbons? It's not that bad... doesn't she have at least one top-3 finish in a major? It's not like she's Anna "what's a semifinal?" Kournikova or anything...

I’m not sure. She’s never won on the women’s tour and yet she keeps trying to play with the men. Beat someone of your own sex first, then maybe try to take on the men.

Michelle Wie, the Anna Kournikova of golf.
To: Maximus of Texas
According to Wikipedia (take it for what it's worth), her finishes in the women's majors are:
2003: Kraft Nabisco 9th (low amateur), U.S. Open T-39th
2004: Kraft Nabisco 4th (low amateur), U.S. Open T-13th (low amateur)
2005: Kraft Nabisco T-14th (low amateur), LPGA 2nd (low amateur), U.S. Open T-23th, British Open T-3rd (low amateur)
2006: Kraft Nabisco T-3rd, LPGA T-5th, U.S. Open T-3rd, British Open T-26th
That's 7 top-10 finishes in 12 majors, and 3-for-4 since going pro.

It’s a shame too; if she would have stuck to playing on the women’s tour until she became successful, she would not be stuck with these kinds of comparisons. It’s good to have ambition, but there’s got to be some sort of logic behind setting goals.

Still not a star until she wins an event.

Still not a star until she wins an event. I suppose. Still, a 2nd, three 3rds, and a 4th at majors before she's even 17 indicates a lot of star potential.

That I’ll give you. But potential and $1.00 will get you a coke. (or a huge endorsement deal)

I get the feeling they gave her these challenges because she needed something just to stay motivated enough to keep playing.
Stories I have heard about her indicate there is much of the game that simply bores her.
