The only realistic approach of a father in this situation is to abandon the children to the mother and start over. It’s hard because Daddy is required to support the children he may not see and who have learned to hate him but all his efforts to see the children are used by Mommy to reinforce the hatred. Better, in American society today, at least if there is not strong religion in the home, is for a man not to marry or have children at all. More and more marriage and children are used by a woman as a path to long-term support by a captive daddy that allows her to live her life in any way she likes without him being present and more and more feminist society enacts these modes of behavior into law.
Good post. I would be the first to say that fathers get a bad rap in the courts and it’s so unfair, but Baldwin has had too many past examples of abusive, destructive, out-of-control behavior, and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that he is regularly abusive to his daughter. I wonder if Basinger truly tried to alienate Baldwin or if that is just a rumor. But I don’t blame her for wanting to keep her child away from such a destructive example as Baldwin. The damage he has done to Ireland will be reflected in her adult relationships with men and it’s so sad. Just wait. When she’s about 18, we’ll start hearing about the losers she hooks up with. I don’t care what anybody says and any excuses for him are sickening; the bottom line is that he went on a long hateful, abusive tirade against his daughter. If he had an ounce of decency, he would have corrected himself within the first 30 seconds, imo. Even now he wants to blame others and is only sorry because he got caught. It’s not just his behavior during the phone call, but the fact that he has a history of this type of thing that in the future Baldwin should be refrained from being around his daughter without adult supervision.
Now that the controversy has died down... ;’)
“Cover fire for Alec Baldwin” ping. Oh so obviously, the reason Baldwin called his daughter a little pig was to convince her he had victimized and was trying to win back her affection. The whole thing isn’t his frightening psyche, but due to some fiendish plot by his ex-wife. And the divorce? That was not his fault either, and isn’t in any way related to any psychological problems he allegedly has. ;’)

The answer is she hates her ex-husband more than she loves her children.
No case is the same.
