Much wisdom in your posts. As someone who had met Cathie Ake I can say you are pretty acurate. We were invited to her “farm” and never made plans to go (not for any specific reason, except planning time).
She was a sweet, tender hearted person. Maybe a tad too self assured that her way with animals was instrumental in her success at an exotic farm. In hind sight it was at best naive.

Looks like that did a lot of good.
The police are minutes away when seconds count.
just saw the Maverick episode where Bret wins a camel in a poker game, an “Arabian Mount”.
It kicked her first (to knock her down) and then sat on her.
Probably because it was agitated. (Being kept in a 50 foot x 80 foot pen, film crew running around getting in it's face, owner probably trying to hold it still, etc.).
...Cathie Ake and the 4-year-old camel were being filmed by a local television station on Sunday when the camel kicked her and then sat down during a break in filming...
...Donnie Ake said he believes his wife either suffocated or was crushed by the animal...
From another site ( amessage forum):
...The deceased woman's husband asked animal trainer Tim Rivers to transport the camel to the sale in order to find another home for it.
Rivers, who owns Animals in Motion, an exotic animal training facility... plans to let interested buyers know that the animal killed its owner and should be used only for breeding purposes.
...Captive wildlife can be unpredictable, especially bull males, said Rivers, who had turned down an offer to purchase the same camel a couple years ago.
"He was a bull... "I wouldn't even think of taking him on a movie set," he said. "He was a handle-able bull, but I wouldn't take him out in public and use him for anything like that. Anytime you've got a breeder bull, they're not trustworthy."
