With our newfound interest in fusion technology, we could use some vacuum pumps and ion injectors.

Huh? Did we land the Castle somewhere? I thought we were still out in space where, if you want some vacuum, you just open a window and stick a jar out there to collect some.

You always manage to pull those things out of your tam at the last minute!

Sadly. I'm not a "last minute" person (unlike the goodwife). I like having it all done & squared away well in advance.

How are you, and how's Der Truck?

Other than a few bruises, scrapes and really sore muscles, I'm fine! I think.

I scraped the hide off my right leg from knee to ankle, yesterday, but it would take more than that to keep me out of action.

The truck is no longer under a carport, and there is construction to the west of us, so it's looking pretty ratty, right now.

Next week, it will get a "tuna" and a detail job. :o])

Er...no.

I still have lots of boxes to bring home, but I have to get them here by Saturday, so I don't have to pay for another month. Hopefully, I can get a crew for early Saturday.

The furniture is here, but this place is so small...:o[

There must be people out there who want to trade big furniture for their little stuff.

No?

I don't have "big furniture." I have shelves and shelves and shelves. I have a Q bed, a 40" round table, and a "chair-and-a-half."

And books, videos, books, DVD's, books, CD's...

"... if you want some vacuum, you just open a window and stick a jar out there to collect some."

I had a hunch someone would bring that up. The problem with that kind of vacuum is that we would lose volatiles. I like to limit that loss as much as possible.

Once our proof of concept devices are operational, we can design a new shuttle to give us increased range and speed, and those "whiffle balls" will have the outside kind of vacuum inside them.

Doctor Bussard wanted to use two engines, but I'm thinking seven. The configuration is pretty.

Ouch!

The truck is no longer under a carport, and there is construction to the west of us, so it's looking pretty ratty, right now.

I know about that. Back when we were living in a townhome by the bike trail, a decade and more ago, my old truck sat out in the weather and was only driven on weekends. (Hey -- I got to work faster riding than driving, I paid a LOT less in gas and upkeep, it was mostly more fun except when it snowed, I had great legs, and the company paid for the hot shower at work -- what's not to like?)

When we finally let it go in 2000, it had a permanent moss infestation we could not get rid of.

Yep...it's a Toyota. No major problems. I'll probably have to buy tires and a battery this year, but even that is do-able.
