--Clinton, though, was our Caligula. Hillary is our Nero. She'll burn us to bits. --

Great analogy.
Reagan = Augustus
Bush I = Tiberius
Clinton = Caligula
Bush II = Claudius

Do you oppose our Representative form of government and favor a true Democracy?

You have posed an excellent question. When we have secretariats with tribunals, ministers, etc. are we in a Representative form of government? We now have secretariats with the OAS, NAFTA, CAFTA, SPP and probably more. Do we need these secret tribunals. Our country has been free and open to public opinion for 200 years. Sadly, I see us regressing with globalization.

I work part time for a truck driver. I can assure you that when he's sitting in Laredo, TX waiting for a load to haul up north, he has no desire to ever take a load from the US into Mexico.

The last time I was in Progresso the main road leading to the bridge needed paving. I don't think it has ever been paved.

I know John Cornyn would like the U.S. to build infrastructure (pave their roads) in Mexico. How bad are the roads in inner Mexico?

To those that were sure putting the Dems in charge of congress was going to teach the Republicans something. Well?

We should rebuild the grassroots conservative movement. From the Reagan Revolution of 1980 through the Contract with America in 1994, it was this movement from outside Washington that carried us to the first center-right majority governing coalition in more than 60 years.

The problem has not been with conservatism or with our voters.

The problem has been with Republican leaders who forgot who elected them and what values their supporters expected to see implemented in Washington.

My only point here is that if our goal was for the Republican party in DC to have some sort of epiphany by losing the election, it was a dismal failure. It appears that, for the most part, they are thinking just the opposite. They are saying they need to move further away from conservative principles, not closer.

I have no answer, even in retrospect. But I believe that even if we took the RINOs into a dark room and beat them with billy clubs, we'd still be pissing into the wind as regards having them get the message.

I've watched Bush pour a lot of his time and energy over years into this one thing--taking US trucking jobs away from Americans and giving them to Mexicans, and making US roadways more dangerous.

How I wish he'd invested a similar effort to reforming Social Security!
