It's official. NFL ping.
Bring back Don!
Now you just have to hope a Big Ten school with a lot of money doesn't come calling in two years.
If they come calling in next year's offseason, well, Cowher will be available. And Huizenga has deep, deep pockets.
Don Shula wouldn't be able to coach in today's NFL, for a variety of reasons. Sad, but true.
I just hope this entices Dom Capers to sign that friggin' extension already.
So instead of going after Marty's son they opted for Marty's OC. Makes sense to me since the Chargers offense was oh just a wee bit better than the Jets was.
Well, as far as Son of Marty's offense goes, it didn't rank very high, but the way the offense was designed was pretty creative--to the point where people said the Jets were winning with smoke and mirrors, not any sort of solid football skill. And to an extent, that's true.
Schottenheimer only pulled his name out of the race because he didn't consider himself ready for the position. That's a good sign of maturity and realism, and he'll be an excellent head coach eventually. Just hopefully not in the AFC East.
There's an "informal press conference" with print and electronic reporters at 6, and the news conference making the formal announcement will come at 7.
I thought his name being out there was a bit premature.
The fact that he received consideration is a decent testament to his ability. It was just a little premature.
Saban picked the worst year to leave.
Miami is a good team, kinda reminds me of the Bears a few years back.
The Dolphins and Bears have one thing in common: they've both had to claw their way back from Dave Wannstedt's ineptitude.
Listening to Cameron's press conference... this guy is saying all the right things. Philosophy of adaptation. Run the ball to score points. Maximize the available talent. Dare I say it... I'm excited.
Watch out, AFC East.
Has he let the Dolphins know yet that L.T. isn't coming with him ???
oh puleeeeez....and to think they almost hired Mike Shula....that's a joke....
Don't need LT. We've got Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams, and a coach finally dedicated to using them properly.
Ronnie Brown can be an elite running back in the NFL, if he'd get the damned carries.
We didn't "almost" hire Mike Shula. He was never a serious candidate. He was given two interviews as a favor to his dad in order to make Mike look good.
Though I can see Mike Shula becoming the QB coach, if Cameron decides to promote Garrett to OC.
Well you may have Ronnie Brown but don't count on Ricky Williams. Hell even Ricky Williams doesn't have Ricky Williams !!!
Ricky Williams, through his agent, has already stated his intention to apply for reinstatement to the NFL. It's not like he has a choice; Huizenga's got him by the short-n-curlies as far as contractual obligations go.
He's also undergoing continued drug testing, so I doubt he's going to suddenly be suspended out of nowhere. Besides, one more suspension and he's permanently banned from the NFL.
