"The additional tax money would be earmarked for education, according to the text of the bill, 'to teach Americas children the fundamentals of economics in a capitalist system.'"

Republicans said the new minimum wage would also produce a windfall of tax revenue as millions of Americans move from paying no federal income tax, straight to the highest tax bracket. Love that Scrappleface.

Applying the principle of robbing Peter to pay Paul used in Congress to the rest of the country. What a great idea!

Ya know, this might work if a 95% tax was implemented along with the raise.

I'm watching the debate on C-Span..one dem got up there and said a raise will provide an additional $4,400 a year to families for groceries and health care..ROFL..
how about an additional $4,400 a year for new "grills", "tennis shoes", "iPods", "lottery tickets", all the extra beer they can handle and that ever beneficial street gun..

Well they do have somewhat of a point...I mean, saying that most current full-time minimum wage earners make just below $40,000 is a bunch of bologne.
Seems most of the DUers are stuck on their conspiracy theories...again...

that's NOT what was said..he said that minimum wage workers come from FAMILIES that have an average income of $40,000 a year..meaning teenagers in their first job..

Well, there are your minimum wage earners. Their understanding of economics explains that. Only in DU land would people without money try to teach those with it how to handle it. NEVER take financial advice from a broke person.

That first poster there claims to work three jobs . . . but still doesn't clear over $40K?

See...leave it to DUers to misconstrue what was actually said, to what they believe...to fit into their messed up agenda/mind.

It's because they're too stupid to understand it.
The point is most minimum wage earners live in families with TOTAL income over 40k. As in teens whose parents work...
