Also, the accuser said her attackers did not use condoms, no condoms were found at the site, and the DNA testing shows no evidence of condom use, which it would (lubricants, pubic hair, sloughed skin cells) had condoms been used.

In hindsight, that would have been a smart thing to do; that, of course, guarantees it wouldn't have been done by Nifong.

But your remark toward that player was uncalled for.

Never heard any such claim. Sounds like it deserves ESPN's "wishful thinking" award. Remember the DNA.

Actually the lack of it. No way. She obviously had sex with several men. But none of them were the Duke players.

I really don't like to tell you that your son is wrong, but he is.

There is no DNA from anyone at the party, however there is DNA from other men.

ESPN is not a good source for this story. There are numerous threads about this subject, that cover it from stem to stern. I'd point him to those, if he wants to know the truth. :)

I'm not "repeating" such a claim. I'm asking whether anyone on FR has heard that ESPN made such a report as suggested to me by my son. If there has been no such report (as I expect to be the case), then I can correct my son's claim that such was reported. That is my only purpose here. I do not believe that any player on the team made such a claim, and that Nifong used this case to win reelection.

I remember early SPECULATION that the Duke 3 "might have" used a condom, but not of an actual claim that that happened. In fact, the accuser denied that IIRC. Using a condom would not have prevented DNA transfer entirely, so that's been disproved. Maybe your son heard someone on ESPN wondering aloud if condom usage would 100% prevent DNA evidence from being left (it wouldn't) ?

Condoms leave trace evidence - the lab analysis included testing for it. None was found.

Tell your son he is spreading lies.

Five other men (none of them her boyfriend in name)...

You mean her pimp?

There have been all sorts of claim by the rape Nazis. There is no evidence to support any of them. And the facts are:

1. Nifong can not have a secret witness and the NC discovery law requires that he disclose such a witness long ago.

2. The lacrosse players who were at the party have long ago been deposed by the defense. If they were going to testify to such a thing and lied at their deposition, they committed perjury.

3. The DNA tests found not a single cell from any white lacrosse team member on Mangum but did find cells of 5 or 7 or some number of other males.

4. Having sex with her passed out does not fit very well when the only evidence is her ID of three people. How did she ID people who did things to her when she was passed out? How did she fight and spit out semen when she was passed out?

5. Having a secret witness does not jive with a DA dropping the rape charges because there is no evidence she was raped and she can not remember if there was penis penetration.

So regarless of the lies someone publishes about this case, one should always go back to the facts that are in public.

The infamous "unnamed source". DNA exists in many forms. None of the Duke boys DNA existed on her. Never trust ESPN as a source. Even the MSM knows better apparently. The only thing Nifong "believed" was that this could get him elected. A lot of men had sex with Crystal. None of them were on the LAX team.

With all due respect, you are repeating such a claim. In fact, you didn't hear ESPN report it, and you could easily do your own web search, there's this thing called Google, and find ouit for yourself.

Oh, I don't mind anyone telling him he's wrong (even though he does;}. Trying to tell a 22 year old how wrong they are can be interesting to say the least. He hasn't been following the case all that closely, and his primary source for information has been ESPN, who everyone knows is just a fountain of trustworthy information/sarc off). He heard the claim that condoms were used, but does not know that condoms leave behind trace evidence as well and that no such trace evidence was found.

All due respect Soldier Dad, but ...

your son shouldn't be repeating stuff like this without a source...

...or use words like 'reported to have admitted' without a source....etc.

That's sheer speculation and malicious gossip.

As the mother of three sons, I know how important ESPN is, but in this instance they are spreading lies.

It's hard to be upset with the boy when Wendy Murphy is STILL screaming the same thing to this very day.

What if it was your son who folks were spreading malicous gossip about?

How would you feel then?

Put yourself in the parents shoes for five minutes and go tell your son to cease and desist!

I'm not here to get in to a debate or argument over something we both agree on in principle in the first place. When someone is asking for information from others who have followed the case more closely, that is not "repeating" a claim. Now, had I said that I heard/read that such and such was reported and did not follow up with a request for clarification about its validity, then I would be "repeating" something. Please note the purpose of my posts and not just the content.

As far as doing a Google search, maybe if I knew the correct key words that would gererate responses directly related to what I was specifically looking for I might have tried that. Instead, I decided to inquire from people here. How I choose to obtain the information shouldn't be a focus of your attack against me.

Wendy Murphy does not post on Free Republic....(at least I don't think so)...

If the son has any confidence in his dad, he will listen to him rather than Wendy Murphy.....or ESPN
