""Heck, I started out working with 10 meg hard drives the size of a shoebox. ""

My first hard drive on a "home" computer was a Seagate 64 mb, I have jpg's larger than that now.

I had am Amstrad with a 5 meg and thought I was living high! Of course my first home PC had a 360K 5.25 floppy disk that cost more than the 500GB NetCenter that I bought last month

My Dad thought he was hot stuff when he figured out how to plug his TI-60 into the TV set, and play "Pong".

If that didn't annoy my mother enough, he then went and bought the Speech Modulator to plug into the side of it, and he got great glee out of typing in phonetic swear words and fine tuning their pronunciations...

This means that you can stuff the entire Library of Congress onto your hard-drive without any compression.
Of course, most newer machines equipped with the drive will ship with the Library of Congress preinstalled...

That much capacity means never having to worry about whether the bootlegger has a copy of the movie the bootleg buyer wants. :')

By 2010, the minimum free space needed to install the OS will be 200 GB...

I remember some of our exchanges of our early careers in the computer field. Now I rather use high end PC to do carrier landings and take offs in the Persian gulf and elsewhere as well of course lead my teams of airborne boys through the cities of Europe taking out the nazis in Medal of Honor. Perhaps I will get a high end PC and a really zippy video card in the next year so that I can buy some of the latest first shooter PC games that just are to much for my current AMD 1.GHZ system with an aging 64MB RAM on board Video card.
As I recover a bit from the long out of work syndrom, I also will get DSL. This 56KB dial up service is obviously a bumber. Much of what folks ping me to view has to go by the wayside due to such poor transfer rates.
At any rate. No response required this late in the thread.
