Been an Opera user and fan since version 3.0. Think it is the best browser out there for Windoze.

Why is this a plus? Few people would use all of these gadgets, and if they don't, then it's just so much bloatware. You really don't want a bunch of plugins you don't intend to use.

Exactly. That's a major feature of Firefox IMO. You only have to install what you want it to do. There are a lot of discussions on the Mozilla forums about feature creep, and I think the FF team has done a pretty good job with it. Personally, I'd have probably gone with an even more streamlined base install than they have, but overall, it's not bad at all.

Extensions rock. Wish more software were designed like that.

together with several innovative ideas, such as automatic detection of RSS feeds, built-in Babel Fish translation, quick links to Google's cache, mouse gestures as standard, and plugins for Gmail, Hotmail, Bloglines, and coComment already installed.
For me, this is a "so what?" I don't need or want all of that.

Never heard of Maxthon, but 1) no interest in a Chinese browser and 2) what a terrible name for any product!

how can you work in the IT field reviewing browsers, know about and explicitly mention firefox's user community bug reporting system, and yet not figure out why you have a memory leak.

Can you explain this? Does the bug reporting system increase Firefox's memory requirements? Should it be turned off for better performance? I haven't had Firefox crash on me in months, so if I'm "wasting" memory with the Talkback extension I'd rather get rid of it.

Installing the bug report system, and taking advantage of the bug reporting system are seperate issues if you want them to be.

The bugzilla community keeps an active list of bugs, including bugs regarding conflicting or memory leaking extensions, that is extremely helpful for anyone who has a situation where firefox is eating up huge amounts of memory.

Gotcha...I read your original post as saying the bug reporting system was the cause of memory leaks. Thanks.

Which version, and how big a drive? I'm thinking about doing something similar for my work computer so as not to have bookmarks or history stored.
