She lost her footing and went down in a splits position.

That hurts just reading it. Hopefully this incident inspires her to lose some weight.

Agreed, and I hope that it also inspires her to lose the "it's all about me" attitude.

People could very easily have died as a direct result of her selfish and thoughtless actions.

He said she was again warned by the guide but that it was "very difficult to discriminate".

Not really.

Agreed.  The only "difficulty" lies in the minds of the cave tour operators, who may or may not be overreacting to the realities of South African discrimination laws.

Carnival ride operators have been enforcing height and size parameters on customers for decades, and of course it's simplicity personified to do so.  Up to this point it seems that the cave tour operators have been using their experience and common sense to weed out unfit spelunkers and it's probably worked just fine up until now, when they got a headstrong fat woman who thought that she knew best and they were probably afraid of her throwing a fit if they prevented her from participating.

Now they will probably institute tough and overly-restrictive guidelines that will not only forcibly weed out obviously unfit people like this woman but probably a lot of other people who could have done the tour just fine.

It's always the idiots like this who screw things up for the rest of us.
