You can come paint my house and I'll pay you. Of course, the trip out here is going to eat up the pay. LOL ;o)

All kidding aside, why don't you print off some computer papers telling all about FR, along with FReerepublic.com on it and post them on bulletin boards on campus and around town in grocery stores, etc? That would bring more people to the site and some of them are bound to contribute to FR, which would help Jim Rob out. That would be a fine thing to do. Happy New Year!! :o)

We used to throw a quarter in a jar every time we swore in the wardroom at the BOQ. We gave it to charity.

Perhaps if you contributed a nickel to the cause every time you sucked up to the founder, you could make a substantial year-end contribution.

Some of the most enthusiastic activist out there are college students. If you have a conservative group on your campus, so some freeps with them and post them here.

depends on what part of the city ... the tourist/business parts of the city are rebuilt and open for business (c'mon down, y'all!), but there's still a lot of really damaged neighborhoods and a few like the Ninth Ward that are absolutely trashed.

My lawn needs mowing, but I probably have illegals doing it already.

Just stick around and be one of the gang. When you get to a point you can help out, you'll know it. Ain't nobody gonna run you off till then. We're glad to have you.

Same here in Gulfport/ Biloxi / Pass / Bay area, still totally wiped out on the beach front. How's the crime in your area? We are in a fema trailor park, and some idiot stole the freon (or whatever) from our Air Conditioner a few days ago, the FEMA people said the homless and drug addicts steal it too make meth. It's getting bad over here in some parts. So far so good ,where we are at.

Find like-minded students and hold a cookie sale. Not just an ordinary cookie sale. Price the cookies according to your own politically correct system in order to get people's attention.

Charge more for mentally unstable leftover commie professors, Satanists, women with in-your-face tattoos, paint-flinging animal rights losers, retards still driving around with Al Gore bumper stickers, and lawyers.

Set your beebers to stune ... be prepared for some hugh and series discussion.

Be sure to drink your Ovaltine.

Keep your feet off the couch

Come right, straight home with the change

Don't talk with your mouth full

Keep your hands away from your mouth

Cover your mouth when you cough

Call home and don't ask for money

Tell your dad you love him ... don't worry about mom ... she already knows and will love you anyway ... dad's the key.

I spent the week before Christmas in Bay St. Louis and Waveland with the 8 Days of Hope group. We had 650 volunteers working in the area. My son and I worked in 3 houses in various stages of repair. There is certainly a lot of work still to be done. The first house we worked in (in BSL) was complete except for a little trim work when we left. The owner will finish that work. The last house (in Waveland) is still just a shell with no inside walls.

VA: There are groups in NO and along the MS coast who are doing this kind of work every day. Find one and get involved. I can point you to some if your church can't.

If you want to do something on a more personal level, there are dozens of FReepers like mosquewatch.com who are still in need of help. Get with some of those folks and see what you can do to help them. I'm an old computer geek. I knew nothing about home repair/construction when I got to BSL a couple weeks ago. I learned. A young, motivated individual such as yourself certainly can too.

Dedicate one weekend and go around raking yards, mowing, washing cars, whatever, etc. Take all the money you earned, buy a money order and send it in.
