It's 70 here now :-). Der Prinz and Der Son have gone for their 14-mile run, and I think I'll take the little boys for a stroll around the block.
It will give Wednesday an opportunity to come downstairs and eat!

My dad's wife had a pellet stove put in--it fit in the fireplace. It auto-feeds the pellets and blows the hot air out--very efficient. She seems to like it a lot. But having a gas FAU in my house, I wouldn't know how much better/worse it works.

While the guys are in Houston for the weekend, I took the opportunity to inventory our *plan* for next year and figure out what curriculum (i.e. books) I need to buy and what I can do without. Wow, I think I must have bought enough last year for three years worth of school. But... I do have gaps and need to buy a few books :-)

LOL!
110 would do that to me.
When I went to Hawaii, I was dying in the humidity, and friends from Texas were saying "It''s not humid here at all".

I'm just north of Dallas.

Hi, my name is peanut gallery, and I am a bibliophile.Oy, I have that problem, too! We had to empty all our bookshelves to paint the schoolroom last month, and I found things I'd forgotten a long time ago!
If it wasn't for the library, we'd all have to live in the yard and turn the house over to the books!

This is just a little two-speed fan heater that cost $12. I've had it on low speed, and it has a thermostat in it so it doesn't burn itself out. But it's been working for the last almost two months as my principle heater.
The complex sent in a maintenance man, and all he did was run my furnace for an hour, telling me it would "warm up soon." It never did. So I just shut it off. The next tenant can worry about it.

That's one thing too many people don't get about Southern Cal--There's all sorts of wilderness within a short distance out of town. Just have to know where to look.
Of course we like to say "surf in the morning, Earthquake for lunch, Ski at night". Done that a few times.

That sounds like the lizards around my house--most of the time you can just see them scamper over the wall, but when it is cold, you can walk up to them and pick them up.

It depends on where you're headed. Houston is going to be nasty beginning tomorrow. The Dallas area will be getting better tomorrow. Check out www.nws.noaa.gov . Just enter the city, state (or zip code if you know it) in the search box and it'll give a weekly forecast.

No, that was my point, everytime we go, it's between 55 and 75F.
That is warm to me, in January.
