So, we cannot make any movie now over an objection by a 23-year old "cultural activist"?

Mayans were savages, like most other inhabitants of pre-Columbian America.

Nawwwwww, playing 'hockey' with heads cut off of captives, that was SO civilized. Cutting out human hearts, eating gizzards --- almost as civilized as the still-living-on-earth 7th century Muzzies are today.

Some time ago, I spent several weeks in the Yucatán jungles visiting Mayan ruins. To say the ancient Maya were bloodthirsty is an understatement! They were little better than the Aztecs and had very similar beliefs about sacrifice.
The people in that region are very angry at the Spanish and colonization, much more than in most parts of Mexico. It definitely colors their thinking.

The Mayan's WERE savages. They loved human sacrifice, especially children.

That leaves as fair game only white males. Nothing that can be said about them will be criticized.

Everybody knows the Maya run the world by proxy.

Lucio Yaxon, described by Reuters as a 23-year-old Mayan human rights activist... There are no Mayans. He is a 23-year-old Mexican opportunist. ;)

Some descendants of the Maya tribes depicted in Mel Gibson's Apocalypto have denounced the movie as racist and not representative of their ancient culture. They probably haven't even seen it, just like the Jews who hadn't seen "The Passion of the Christ" but proclaimed it anti-semitic.

If Gibson made a movie depicting Christopher Columbus, the Conquistadors, and the Puritans as evil warmongering conquerors, he'd of course become an instant overnight hero to the left-wing crowd worldwide.
Unfortunately for them, being fawned over by that bunch clearly isn't high on his priority list.
