I know.
However, it should be a requirement to win your conference.
If it isn't a requirement to do so, they need to institute a 4 team playoff.
If only Florida hadn't scheduled Western Carolina, chances are they would be ahead of Michigan in the computers.
Yeah this could be a lot of fun....
Or not :)
Exactly! Bring 'em on! Take away the two center-QB exchanges and the gamewasn't even close. Those won't happen again since the Bucks' C will be healed up by January. Oh, and Notre Dame was supposed to destroy OSU last year... hmmm.... I recall a different outcome. That being said, Michigan had their shot and blew it. It is silly to think that all they have to do is beat OSU once for the National Title, yet OSU would have to beat that team up north twice to win the Title. You got to win down the stretch and Florida has done that.
If NCAA not mandated a 12-game schedule, making Florida scramble to find another opponent on short notice, then they would be ahead of Michigan in the computers.
Everyone had to scramble.
That's why Ohio State had to play Bowling Green and why Michigan had to play Ball State.
You can't tell me they could not have found someone to take the beating and the payday that was AT LEAST D-1A....
Just compare the schedules side by side. Using the USA Today top 25 rankings and CFN's top 119 for the rest, you can see that side by side, Florida had the more difficlut schedule and defeated a much more impressive slate of teams than Michigan did. The bowl eligible teams of both teams are bolded.
Michigan.............................Florida
Wisconsin #6.............................LSU #5
N. Dame #12 .......................... Arkansas #8
Penn St. #37.............................Tennessee #19
Minnesota #47.........................Kentucky #33
Vanderbilt #48..................................Georgia #34
Indiana #51.......................................S. Carolina #35
Iowa #52....................................Alabama #46
C. Michigan #61..........................Vanderbilt #48
Mich. St. #70.....................................FSU #49
Northwestern #82.............................So. Miss #54
Ball St. #85.........................................C Florida #93
.................................W. Carolina Div 1AA
Ohio St. #1............................... Auburn #11
If we're talking about who's deserving, this is a no-brainer.
* Florida played the most difficult schedule in the nation.
* Michigan played 10 teams that are bowl eligible while Michigan polayed on 6 teams that are bowl eligible.
* Florida won its conference division championship and overall conference championship.
* Michigan did not win its conferencce championship.
If Michigan is selected to play Ohio State for the ational champiuonship game and wins, whats next?...Will we have folks calling for a best two out of three....Please, get real.
Quit saying Michigan should go. They'll come and take you away.
I'm just so glad that this entitlement mentality of USC and the NC was put to bed yesterday. Even as they were losing yesterday, Mussberger was still wondering aloud how a loss to UCLA "might" hurt their chances at the NC.
I'm a true Buckeye, and it makes no difference to me if we face MI or FL in Glendale. Two victories over Michigan would be really sweet and a win over the SEC would be almost as enjoyable!
Here's my question to the fans on this thread ... if Michigan had beaten OSU on November 18th, everything else being the same, would anyone on this planet (excluding Ohio) expect a rematch?
This scenario keeps screaming for a playoff system. It just does. Yea maybe UF played a "tougher" schedule, but UM went toe to toe with Ohio State....Oh WTH, it doesn't matter, they're going to kick the crap out of either team anyway.
And Pete Caroll crying that UCLA had an extra week to come up with some new stuff. How Al Gore of him!!!!!!
Well I will say that USC's schedule this past month has been nothing short of brutal.
I personally want a 16 team playoff (11 game mandated schedules out of every conference) which would include all 11 D-1A conferences and 5 BCS wild cards (the top 5 rated non-conference champion BCS schools).
They could start it next weekend and be done by the time they are CURRENTLY playing the BCS National Title game.
It won't happen. The Presidents and the bowls would rather take the money that they have on hand rather than the risk and the probable BIGGER payoff in a playoff format.
Does that mean that he got outcoached?
Welcome to the world of the SEC. Its that way for the SEC every season.
Well, I guess there a few lucky furniture shoppers in West LA this morning. They can thank the Trojans for beating themselves...
According to UF message board, the coaches poll is out and UF is #2. Still looking for a link though...
Found the link to the coach's poll - Florida has a pretty big lead over UM.
