Could it be that recent Microsoft actions have something to do with this.....?

See post #3...maybe Microsoft wants to own it....with their money they may be able to....

It's a communist operating system preferred by Asian thieves who steal American technology without paying for it... Unless it's Microsoft. If it's Microsoft, then it's an outstanding example of American innovation and the free market at work.

I want one I can dual boot. At least until I decide whether to keep it or not.
Tried Knoppix off a CD and was underwhelmed. It wouldn't save any of my preferences.
Is there one I can run off a flash drive?

IIRC, Slax can be installed to a USB drive and also has ways to save your configuration.

Just picked up a Black Friday special at Fry's....a Lexar 512Meg Jump Drive....goota try it out....cost $0 after rebate....
Crowds were incredible...checkout line wound thru half the building...
To: Ernest_at_the_Beach
The place I work at had several jump drives on sale (can't really say without giving it away)...

Speaking of those crowds, I really should watch the news tonight. The bloody news choppers were hovering over the local mall at 5 a.m. taking pictures of the insane early-birds. I might as well see what woke me up.
