I really don't believe the woman was an innocent. More to this story than is written.
She most certainly WAS not convicted of anything either. She was executed for trying to protect herself as people broke into her house after dark. You want to bet even if the police announced themselves it was in a manner that could be HEARD by a 92 year old woman?

Are you all nuts? Why do you believe this old lady was just an innocent bystander? I'll tell you what, until the full investigation is done I'll wait and assume she was a Drug Dealing Old Lady willing to go out in a hail of lead then go to Old Lady Jail! Good for the Atlanta cops! One less wrinkled old meth dealer!!!

What happened to the good old days before Waco when 92 year old women were served warrants with a knock on the door?
Now apparently, the only ways to solve problems like these are to confiscate all civilians guns or make drugs legal.

Very nice shot for a 92 year old lady.
So good of a shot, she should be investigated for the JFK assassination.

I really think Waco was worse than even the worst possible assessment of this situation - when you add up how they deliberately avoided arresting Koresh is a less disruptive way in town and had plenty of time to consider the kids inside and did it that way anyway. Even if this was bad policy and/or a bad warrant it was still guys getting shot at and responding to that.
Plus, this situation is still in limbo - we don't really know yet what led up to the tragedy. We just know a tragedy occurred.
Another thing I don;t get is why this got moved to chat - its clearly news - I know we had a troll visitation but he was gone fast.

I take great issue with no knock raids in the name of the WOD, be it swat team or individuals. I take great issue with plain clothes, armed warrant service in the dark... If the targets of the raids were expected to be anywhere near as dangerous as the police claim, the police would work much hard on planning, reconnaisance, and surveillance before conducting them. In cases where the police don't, such failure would suggest to me that the police aren't expecting their target to be dangerous enough to merit the no-knock in the first place.

Sounds right to me supercat. There isn't any excuse for mistakes when the lives of citizens are at stake. I think the word citizen, will have more meaning as time passes and this country has fewer citizens, and a greater population of non-citizens, or worse, people here illegally, however, the police principles and policy should cover all people, not just citizens, whether guilty of a crime or not. The guilty verdict is not the cops job, the safe apprehension is. I think dead or alive went out in the 1800's.
