Thank you for your selfless service Donald Rumsfeld. May God bless you and your family. I you have done a helluva job and all true Americans appreciate your achievements and salute you. We will all miss you as SecDef. Maybe a time will come where you are again called to service and we all will support you.
Thank you.
Mr.Rumsfeld, I wish you nothing but Fair Winds and Following Seas.
Dear Mr. Rumsfeld,
This Vietnam veteran would like to thank you for your years of service to our nation and to those who served under you.
Your intelligence and wit have been a shining example to all of us.
I offer only the thanks of a veteran but it is as heartfelt and sincere as I know your feelings are towards veterans in
general.
A job well done.
Tet68.
I absolutely LOVE Don Rumsfeld. I am sorry to see him go but do not blame him after all he's done for this country to choose NOT to deal with those who tried to destroy him. He deserves better.
I love his directness and sense of humor. He could deal with the press like none other. I suspect that is why they hate him.
He is simply a brilliant man.
Good. Keep that screenname. It honors a great patriot!!
Mr. Rumsfeld,
I cried when I saw you speak today... you are a true American and will be missed by many. So sorry it had to come to this.

God Bless Donald Rumsfeld!
He was always my favourite member of the Bush Administration, bar none. "Old Europe" can go pound sand! I eagerly await to read his memoirs.
Three cheers for Rummy.
God bless your service to our nation, especially on 9/11 and thereafter.
THANK YOU!

-SecDef Gates, President Bush's choice to replace Don Rumsfeld.
I'm not that savvy about the internet, how could Secretary Rumsfeld be made aware of one posting among thousands, on one website among thousands?
There is another thread up too that suggests sending him cards and flowers, and gives DoD address. I just wish I could give him a BIG HUG!
Oh that's just great. Getting rid of a strong Secy Of Defense is a big mistake IMO. I only hope this Gates guy is not the wimp he appears to be.
Donald Rumsfeld is a patriot and a hero in my eyes.
I'm certain that some mistakes were made in the war, as they always are. Anyone who watches Military Blunders on The History channel can see that many, many mistakes were made by the US and our allies in WWII, but we won and saved civilization.
The same could have been true in Iraq, if the ugly face of liberalism hadn't gotten in the way and emboldened the enemy.
Another added bonus of Donald Rumsfeld's service was his absolutely brilliant and entertaining way of dealing with the media.
He has my deepest admiration and thanks for his service and I'm delighted, for his sake, that he's resigned and I hope he pushes back against the subpoenas to testify before Congress. He knows full well that someone needs to be in charge of the DOD with the ability to give their full attention to two wars in two countries and he did the right thing by refusing to let his position stand in the way of what needs to be done.
Godspeed, Mr. Rumsfeld.
I don't care whether this is appropriate or not.
I forgot to add in my thanks to Donald Rumsfeld:
Mr. Rumsfeld, you are one of the sexiest men alive!!! And the older you got, the sexier you became.
I don't understand it either. Why didn't Bush just roll over and ask Pelosi and Reid for a list of concessions for him to make?
My greatest concern now that we've lost the House is that the Senate (Amnesty) Immigration bill will sail through and Bush will sign it. I don't think most Americans still realize what a disaster to our culture this is going to be.
You said it all about Rumsfeld's "resignation". At this point in time I do not understand President Bush at all.
