Actually I try to follow the old axiom of: Better to be silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.
Doesn't always work though.
The converse seems to have worked quite well for me, though...

The civil discourse, reasoned responses, Richter scale sarcasm, humor, and irony available on FreeRepublic is without peer. I feel like I've gotten a college level education in darn near everything! ---
Great post...... and may I add, I think the education is a Ph.D.

Is there a way to put them all into a book to pass down to your grandchildren? Thick book.

I think most of them were attempts at getting a cheap laugh. You are on my 'most humorous list', if I may say so.

There is always a FReeper somewhere who knows the inside scoop on anything, and is willing to share what they can about any given topic. It is so refreshing to be pulled up short on an incorrect concept by someone who actually has experience, not just book larnin', and can explain the facts of the matter in a clear, concise, and (usually) respectful manner. Indeed. There is always halp right around the corner on any subject on FR.

Well, yes.
But I have run across some things that weren't my fault.
