I mean this in the nicest possible way.... but, are you an idiot.

If this kid has three layers of back-up family and madonna has to save him, the World will end tommorrow.

The link is a long article but here are a few snips. The baby has quite a few living relatives it seems and it seems there is a little bit of a rift between the father's side and the mother's side.

In a deeply moving interview, she told yesterday how her daughter, Malita, who died a few days after the birth, was too weak to even hold the baby - and how, with her husband Andersen, she tried in vain to save the young woman's life, at one point ferrying her by ox cart to a nearby village to get medicine.

Their story might never have been heard. For what is all too starkly clear is that the couple have been cut out of David's life as effectively as if he too had died with their daughter.

However, they refuse to condemn the actions of their son-in-law, David's father Yohane, and his family who gave up the baby to Madonna without even informing them. But neither will they deny that they are concerned about David's future.

"Of course we would have expected to be informed but that's between us and their family,' says Andersen. "If taking the child to the orphanage was in his best interests we are happy.

"We are at the tail end. The decisions have already been made. David's other family have made their decision without discussing it with us so we have no say in it.

Andersen also has fond memories of his daughter, who he describes as a quiet, home-loving child and a committed Christian. "She used to go to church a lot and sang in the choir. She would walk to church and then come back and sit here - she wouldn't run about like the other children."

Malita and Yohane met during his visits to Chimala village, where the Lungus were living at the time and where Yohane's aunt lived. Despite the rift between the families, Andersen describes Yohane as a hard-working man who 'fitted in with my daughter's character. After they got married in 1990, I never heard of any problems between them. They were a very happy family'.

In an exclusive interview with The Mail on Sunday last week, Yohane spoke of his bitterness at Malita's parents for turning their back on him and the baby.

But the Lungus insist he never asked them to take the child. "If he had, we would have said yes,' Andersen insists.

Makes me wonder if the father allowed Madonna to take the baby without telling the mother's parent's for spite?

I'm not so sure slavery is the right word, but she has popularized 'children for sale'.

By the way, I also read that there was another woman that was interested in adopting David and that Madonna knew about her. I read that they had a law the the prospective parent was supposed to live there X amout of time as an adjustment period for the child being adopted. The other woman, was supposedly in the process of doing this, when Madonna demanded the child be given to her, and that this is why social workers there were upset.

Not sure if I can relocate that article, but, even after reading it I figured in due time we might see this woman come forward, if the story is true. Then again, she mgiht figure, who can fight Madonna and win?

Yep, that article covers what I read last week on the topic. Pretty fishy business, huh?

It really is. I don't usually pay that much attention to these stories but this one has struck me as odd from the moment I heard about it.

I know what you mean. I bet Madonna is hoping the story dies down. I hope it maintains legs especially considering the article of the thread.

"I have to be mom and and wife and there are times when I should have, you know, hung out with my kids, and I just said, 'No, I need a massage. I'm gonna do that instead. You know? And I'm gonna be selfish'."

And to think that I thought this was all about a desperate attempt to steal publicity away from Angelina Jolie. What could I have been thinking.

I want to know if any of those that thought it was a good thing were the same that thought a little Cuban boy need to be returned to Cuba to be raised by his father because children needed to be raised by a parent?

It was my contention at the time that Elian's father deserved a day in an American court, considering that he was not contacted when his ex-wife and her family took Elian when they made their desperate attempt to reach the Florida shore. When he arrived in the United States, I thought that's what was going to happen. Then Janet Reno, fearing that Elian's American family would prevail, deceived them into complacency before a raid on their home in the early hours of Easter eve. I was on FR as I watched live on a news bulletin as masked federal agents stormed in and made off with Elian like it was a jailbreak.

As you may be aware, Gregory Craig -- one of Bill Clinton's impeachment hearing attorneys -- was hired to represent Elian's father, who had the support of Fidel Castro. Castro sure got his money's worth. IMHO, it was the third most shameful day of the Clinton Administration behind Waco and Clinton's deposition in the Paula Jones case.
