She should rename the child...

Rocco, Lourdes... and Chip.

'David is just the best little baby ever'

Once more... with feeling.

I beg to differ

"Countries like Britain and Canada that have socialized medicine have very strict laws about international adoption because they don't want sick children brought into an already struggling health care system. "

Uh huh. Got it. Can I get Madonna to adopt me?

Admit it. Y'all just don't like Madonna. You think she's a rich liberal slag. Yadda Yadda.

She's not going to tax the health care system, and I think we can all agree that what's in the best interest of the CHILDREN is what's important here.

(But apparently NOT when it benefits somebody we don't like). Won't call anyone here a hypocrite, but I will point out that there's an odor in the air.

Actually I like Madonna and think she is very talented. Some of her stuff is a little raunchy lately, but I think she is very intelligent and I certainly think it wouldn't be difficult for her to do better than a Malawi orphanage.

And I think international adoption is wonderful. But I think laws must be followed or children will suffer. Maybe not in Madonna's case, but the laws are not in place just to make it harder for her to adopt. They are in place to protect children and the best way to keep order is to follow the laws that have been enacted. When we start bending the laws for the wealthy or the well known we are moving toward a disintegration of the laws themselves, in my opinion.

How 'bout if Brad Pitt adopts an African-American baby in her 30's? I promise I'll be good.

ame opinion about Josephine Baker?

...different motives, Josephine Baker loved and cared about her orphaned children, Madonna is going with the trend.... however, it can't be all that bad to be adopted into a rich family. Next time, they need to make sure that the child is truly an orphan

I certainly see no problem with Madonna adopting a child and bringing him into a life of wealth and privilege. I'm not sure what process Josephine Baker went through to adopt a child, but to take a contemporary example, Angelina Jolie folllowed the laws of the United States and of her adopting countries (Cambodia and Ethiopia). She did not pay money to bypass local laws and then bring a child into her home country with no thought or preparation to her own laws.

Couldn't have said it better myself. This is all a sick stunt and nothing more. Besides the fact that she got what she wanted because of her celebrity and a normal joe would not have so easily adopted a child , it's quite clear to me that Madonna is doing this for the attention.

And guess what? Now she's quoted as saying that she wants a girl from the same village. Looks like she's trying to complete the set. To her, these children are toys.

It sickens me. It disgusts me. Madonna has done stupid stuns for years, but this goes far beyond her normal idiocy. Now she's bringing innocent children into the mix. What an evil woman.

I agree with you that what Madonna has done regarding traditional Christianity and moral values is reprehensible. However, I am a person with experience regarding foreign adoption and I can tell you that our hearts have been touched through this experience more than through any other event in our lives. These precious children are often in very bad circumstances and live lives of desperation from the moment of birth. Most suffer from all the common ailments of childhood..ear infections, bronchitis, colds, pneumonia, etc., in addition to parasites, scabies and the like. The average person has no clue about what life is like for the little children in these orphanages. The folks who care for them there do the best they can with what they have but the task is often overwhelming. I am happy that Madonna has the wherewithal to take this adorable little boy into her home. In this one matter, I hope she can be an inspiration to others seeking to adopt. If more people could find it in their hearts to love a child regardless of biology and to pursue adoption as a way to lift the terrible burdens of children in this world, we would all benefit. Oh, and, by the way, someday, this little fellow might be able to grow up and do some good for the country of his birth. One never knows how God is going to work. Sometimes He uses the most unlikely people..I believe God might be going to do a wonderful work in the life of one very unruly child who is Madonna..We shall see. In the meantime, I hope everyone will set aside politics and hate and have a heart for the little children, the most helpless among us..
