I grew up a Raiders fan, but they are now so gosh-awful, from the ownership to the coaching staff to the third-string special teams player, that I can't bring myself to invest any emotion in them. "Commitment to Excrement."

I'm with you....I went to the first A's game in 68 or 69.. can't remember the year...but became an A's fan from a Giants fan ever since....and was a loyal Raider's Fan since 65 until they moved....I then went with the 49ers....Screw the TRaiders.......GO A's.....it isn't over yet...and I'm all too familiar with the chokes of the early 2000's...but I"m still proud of them....hell, since the came to Oakland, only the Yanks and Braves have won more division titles.. so they do alot right......hoping some of the veterans on the team calm 'em down and keep perspective so they don't blow 3 in a row.......

Don't bet the grocery money on it.

Good advice, considering how they backed into the NL Central this year. But a guy can dream, can't he?

Besides, I didn't say we'd WIN the series! We're still smarting from 2004!

They could have won game one easily with a couple of timed hits.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda.....

Actually tonight's game is our best shot with Verlander on the mound. Pudge has to come through at the plate for Detroit to have any hope though.

Whichever NL team makes it in this year, please win at least 1 game and atone for the past 2 seasons.

I can't stand the Yankees (especially ol' Capt. Bug-eyed), but I really wouldn't mind if they won if only A-Rod and Moose can get their rings. Although I think the Tigers winning it all would be the best thing for the sport.

Glad to see Kotsay step up today, and Thomas yesterday. The A's won, though, with good pitching, particularly the bullpen (outside of Street's shakiness today, and the lost-in-the-dome pop fly Uncle Miltie bungled yesterday). The bullpen has been consistent pretty much all year; no reason to think they might melt-down now.

And I'm with you on my journey as a fan. I grew up with the Giants (as the only game in town), but switched to the A's in 1968 (Ronald Reagan threw out the first pitch at the Oakland Coliseum, remember?). I was still loyal to the Raiders when they moved to LA (the team that won the SB down there was still the "Oakland" Raiders), but I was also a fan of the Niners (big Steve Young fan). I don't think I'll waste any more time on the Raiders until they show they're actually capable of competing in the NFL.

.yup....with ya there....and remember Scutaro....every replay shows Thomas' homers but Scutaro has 2 RBI's with 2 doubles in both games and has been lights out defensively... I actually think so far he is the silent MVP...but our pitching is awesome...however Street is not consistent and gives up too many homers....I hold my breath with him in at times....
...and forgot about Reagan throwing out the ball as I was only 11 at the time...but if memeory serves me, we played the Orioles and Frank Robinson hit the first homer there and Rick Monday hit the first A's homer there.....
........
........Go A's.........Go CAL Bears.....

Good memory. Remember Campy Campaneras? Used to crouch-down low at the plate...There was an LA Times sports columnist in the late 60s (wish I could remember his name -- he passed away a number of years ago, but was one of the top sports writers in the nation) who wrote that "Campy had a strike zone the size of Hitler's heart."

I don't think Dodgers can win without a healthy Penney.
