Likely with the soft USC schedule. Auburn's easy to screw. USC and LA is a big TV market and the current favorites of the media. The BCS is nothing more than a glorified beauty pageant. Until it is settled on the field it will only be a "mythical" championship.
About the short week, Auburn spent all of last week preparing for USC not Buffalo. Of course, USC has had three weeks since they prepared for Wofford and Florida Atlantic.
Speaking of Wofford, they had 303 yards rushing against USC.....USC's rush defense is 101st in the nationa against the run. Mediots like Lou Holtz point to their pass defense which is ranked 3rd. They've only had 81 passes attempted on them all year because they give up the run. Against UGA, they gave up 184 passing which is 75 above USC's average for the year and most of that was with a true freshman at QB. They also gave up 205 rushing which is 70 yards more than UGA typically rushes for. Currently Auburn rushes for 185 and passes for 182. In my opinion, Auburn would have to play a poor game (4+ turnovers) to lose. That being said, I'll be surprised if we score in the 30's because of the running game and the new clock rules shortening the number of chances to score. My prediction is 28-7.
USC's non-conference includes ND, Neb and Arkansas.
Auburn plays Buffalo, Ark St., etc. They screw themselves with a sissy schedule.
In conference we play LSU (top 10), Florida (top 10), Georgia (top 10) and Tennessee (top 15). Nobody else in the country plays 4 top 15 teams and 3 top 10's.
Oh, and on e of the "sissy" OOC teams in from the Pac-10 (Washington State).....
One other thing, in 2004 Auburn beat 5 teams with 9 wins and 4 with 10 wins. No other team in the history of college football has ever done that. Don't talk to me about easy schedules....
Whoops. Got carried away with the Tennesse thing. That would be SEC Championship game......we still play 3 top 10's. The SEC has 5 top 15's which is stronger than any other conference by far.
Talk to Auburn's AD. Scheduling such weak teams is why you don't get any respect.
As for the SEC, I just know USC beats them every time lately.
Yes, you beat us in 2002 and 2003. Two very good teams and those were good wins. The 2003 team was in disarray with the lack of an Offensive Coordinator which has been resolved. As for the present, beating Arkansas is no accomplishment. Just like Washington State.
As for scheduling, we asked Notre Dame, they refused. We asked Michigan, they refused. We asked Nebraska, they refused. This was all in this past offseason. West Virginia is playing us in 2008 and 2009. Strong OOC schedule is not as necessary when there are so many good teams inside the conference. It's unfortunate that the media completely misss the issue and focuses on the red herring OOC schedule.
Just ask Alabama.

Fair enough. Good luck this year, except against the Pac-10.
Alabama is not a good yardstick to use to measure Arkansas ability. Alabama beat Hawaii by 5, and Vanderbilt by 3 (in the last minute). Alabama is just as bad as Arkansas.
But as Wyatt pointed out - OOC is a red herring. YOu have to compare the entire Schedule.
Auburn plays LSU, Florida, Georgia -- as pointed out, All top 10. LSU only Loss is to Auburn, and this will probably be thier only loss. Florida is undefeated, and only losses likely are to LSU and Aurburn. Georgia is undefeated and may lose to Florida, Auburn and possibly Tennessee.
USC plays - ND, Nebraska, Oregon, California -- All top 25 but, ND has already been totally exposed, Nebraska is o.k. but not great (they will lose at least 2 more games), Oregon honestly lost to Oklahoma and California got spanked by a Tennessee team that is showing itself to be a good team but not great.
"As for the present, beating Arkansas is no accomplishment.
Just ask Alabama."
LOL!!! Beating Alabama is less of an accomplishment than Arkansas. 4 in a row for us.
Honestly, I'd love to play USC again. The Borges - Carrol matchup would be fun to wacth.
OK. USC schedule is the toughest, entire or otherwise.
Agreed.
We need playoffs.
Yeah having the SEC wigs ignore the obvious and say the it was the right call really poured salt in the wound. Watch out next year!!!!
