Nancy Grace finally pushed someone too far....

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/nation/4184249.html

LEESBURG, Fla. — Two weeks after telling police that her son had been snatched from his crib, Melinda Duckett found herself reeling in an interview with TV's famously prosecutorial Nancy Grace. Before it was over, Grace was pounding her desk and loudly demanding to know: "Where were you? Why aren't you telling us where you were that day?"

A day after the taping, Duckett, 21, shot herself to death, deepening the mystery of what happened to the boy.

So if your child was a cocaine users and really liked her pusher and really liked cocaine, you would be greatly concerned but let her keep using? Cocaine is bad for your health. Living in a city where the police are out to get you is bad for your health and bad for your future.

So I am sorry, you decided to send your child back into this mess this year. I can't understand why!

BTW, here are the NCAA transfer rules:

http://www.ncaa.org/library/general/transfer_guide/2005-06/2005-06_transfer_guide.pdf

You might look at the rules on a 4-4 transfer. My understanding is that unless your child is playing basketball, football or men's icehockey, she can transfer without sitting out a year. If she has 2.0 and was initially a qualifier, she can receive athletic financial aid at a new school.

The Duke 88 are not going away while your child is in school at Duke. Brodhead going away will not get rid of the 88. Nifong losing would be a good thing for Durham and victims of this hoax. But Nifong losing will not change a thing about your child being indoctrinated nor Durham's antipathy toward Duke students.

"Nancy Grace and the others, they just bashed her to the end," Duckett's grandfather Bill Eubank said Tuesday. "She wasn't one anyone ever would have thought of to do something like this. She and that baby just loved each other, couldn't get away from each other. She wouldn't hurt a bug."

"But Athletic Director Joe Alleva says he believes it is back to normal and trending to high.

(snip)

"It would be unfair to the hundreds of responsible athletes to have their seasons lessened by dwelling too much on the lacrosse case."

"responsible athletes"? As if the lacrosse players--who as a team have shown more character than the Duke faculty--were somehow irresponsible?

If Aleva and co. want the athletes to be able to get back to "normal", then help defend their own, and get this turkey of a case dismissed.

Unfortunately Grace thinks she is the Supreme Being and thus likely thinks this woman admitted guilt by killing herself. She likely views justice for her to drive someone in grief to suicide.

I don't much care for the current government in this country, but I'm not going to jump ship.

Well if you are on the side of the people who are against the President and who are undermining our war effort, then you are politically on the side of the people how are perpetrating this hoax. You might take some time for some real reflection on that. The people in favor of PC, etc are the ones pushing this hoax. Perhaps you should look at where this hoax was revealed to be the hoax it is and wonder if you are right to be concerned about the direction of the country. You shouldn't be just concerned about this case because it tangentially affects you through your child going to a particular school.

Which is why it is up to us adults to fix this thing. And we have the power, belive me. Call up newspaper editors and post on their blogs. Call and write judges. Call and write bar associations. Call and write attorney generals. Call and write the US Justice Department. And it's gonna get fixed too.

I agree and let me add a few. Remove your children from Duke and Durham, don't donate to Duke, don't have your child apply to Duke, don't buy any Duke merchandise except for Duke Lacrosse merchandise, don't stay in Durham when you travel through there, don't travel through there if you can avoid it, etc.

Nifong, Gottlieb, Brodhead are gonna be fixed, I'm absolutely convinced...

I agree, the question is will Duke be fixed or will the 88 continue to run the place.

I have a hunch that much of what we see going on with regard to Durham and Duke is not unique. The rape hoax itself of course is new, but it shows what can come from this toxic background. I don't think we at FR really understood the level of corruption we were dealing with until well into the story.

We're gonna get 'em. May take a while. Recall the line from a Miami Vice episode. Crocket: "You're dirty Ace, but I'm patient."

The best thing the students can do right now is vote out Nifong. (Get rid of Brodhead, Alleva, and the famous "88" as well.)

Absolutely! We've crunched the numbers here, and a few hundred extra votes for Cheek could make the difference. I think you'll find that people here are willing to help you all in that effort. Be thinking about specific things we can do to assist you.

Actually what is different is that there may be an opportunity to retake Duke from the lefists or at least make the playing field more equal. Whenever such opportunities arise at any university, we should avail ourselves of this. Or from the other perspective, if the leftists at Duke get away with throwing some of their students under the bus because of their sex and race, what will ever check them.

I am less concerned with Durham. I think we have a duty to stand up and stop the railroading of outsiders any place in the US. I think if Durham wants to clean up it should clean itself up. College matter because opinions from college spread throughout the country.

Any thoughts on a separate thread to support the students? I'm not sure if that's the best way to go, or if it's better just to let that effort unfold in these discussion threads. This is a many front war, and cold hard numbers show that the students could play an important part. I think we should help them in any way we can.

Thoughts?

My opinion is (and you know about opionions - everyone has one along with another bodily feature, LOL) that with everyhing on one thread, it's easier to keep up with the flow of information, opinion, links, etc. Some of the other bulletin boards you have to spend a lot of time jumping from one thread to another to keep up. Just my opinion, tho...

You are posting on FreeRepublic. Here is the welcome message to FreeRepublic with the bold added:

Free Republic is the premier online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America. And we always have fun doing it. Hoo-yah!

Now if you are just using us because of one issue, the Duke hoax, that is fine with me. But you should expect the rest of us here to be conservatives. You should expect us to care more about just a few individuals in this case or a particular school. Brodhead either gave the 88 far more influence than they deserved or the 88 reflect the values of Duke. This should be used to put a stop to their racists and sexist behavior. Also you will be happy to know that unlike those on the left, we here mostly don't hate our misguided political opponents. In addition, know that my blood pressure is fine and my health is quite good for a 53 year old.

BTW, no one said you did not have the right to foolishly send your child off to a school/city where clearly a significant fraction of the faculty, adminstration, citizenry and police force do not like them. But I certainly have the right to point out how foolish that is too and to encourage people not to send their child to such a place. If you believe Duke screwed up here, then you should be calling for Duke to suffer some of the pain. If you don't believe, Duke screwed up here too, then you are not paying attention.

I think one of the biggest obstacles we run into is that people simply don't believe such a thing could happen in America. Nailing the bad guys in Durham now could have a salutory effect on the rest of the Durhams around the country. It sends the message that these kinds of things have no place in America. IOW, clean it up or we're coming after you next.

I can't believe there aren't potbangers outside the DA's office asking him to resign. That's what should be happening.
