I wonder if the berries had fermented a little... could have been funny watching a drunk raccoon stagger around. There was a tree across the street from our house when I was growing up, that produced berries of some kind. In the fall the birds would eat the berries that fell on the ground, and sometimes get a little too much... they'd flop around on the ground, unable to fly until they sobered up.
Heh, size on the screen, it could have been but I thought I should go with my first thought. ob
The raccoons also have a habit of leaving them in obvious locations like on logs or in the middle of a path; some say it's a territorial marker. There was a log across a creek up on a project site we regularly used to get to the wetlands area on the other side. Big piles of raccoon poop on both ends so the marker theory may have some real basis. Scats are actually quite interesting from an ecology point of view. Good markers for diet.
Huh? You didn't have to do that.
But thanks. :-D
He ordered 20 brick-packs :~)
Addicts!
That's a lotta coffee.
Not that there's anything wrong with that...
If there's some sort of detector that looks for large packages filled with tightly packed organic matter coming out of Florida, we're in trouble ;~)
Heh...I was gonna say...
I know I didn't have to, but we ran out, and I got to shopping, and I wanted to get the free shipping...
I wouldn't have known those were from a racoon...would have said the animal was a vegetarian, though, which racoons are not, I think they eat most anything.
Meanwhile, I've been seeing some droppings around a dock in the Keys that I can't identify. I'd say they were from otters, but am pretty sure there aren't any of those for miles, so I'm now guessing iguanas, which I do see nearby. 'Course, racoon isn't out of the question either.
Unfortunately, I don't have an image to post, in case one of us knows the answer.
Too bad you don't have a picture, since today is "Identify the poop" day in the HH. :~) Well, I happen to have seen a lot of otter poop on our dock in summer. It's a little like a small dog's but with lots of small bits of shell and bone in it. breaks up easy as it dries out in the sun, not cohesive at all.
We went walking out there again this afternoon and we did see coyote poop. It was all hair.
Probably good fer shipping with fresh salmon.
If anybody ever had a friend they wanted to do that for...
Okay, WHATEVER YOU DO, Nobody ping g'nad!!!
We have to catch a salmon first :~)
Ya know, that reminds me... I've never been salmon fishing.
Any plans tomorrow night? Want to come over for some homemade beef stew and a movie?
I Googled "iguana droppings," but couldn't find an image. Plenty of mention, such as the fact that you sometimes see blood in it, and that it carries salmonella, fwiw, but no image.
