Moments ago, Albert Pujols just beat Brad Lidge and the Astros AGAIN! Two-out, two-strike, two-run double in the bottom of the ninth, Cards win 6-5!

I know Ryan Howard is having a fabulous year, and his overall numbers may be slightly ahead of Prince Albert's, but I know Pujols has way more put-your-team-ahead hits and home runs this year. He has been so clutch. The Cardinals would not be in the first place with the second-best record in the league without him--they probably would be out of the running even for the wild card without him.

I could go either way at this point for NL MVP: Howard or Pujols. Let's see what the last couple weeks holds.

Likewise, for Cy Young, either Chris Carpenter or Brandon Webb would be deserving. Let's see how they finish.

Poor Lidge must hate to play St.Louis. For some reason, the Cards seem to have his number. It wasn't a pretty win. Reminds me of the Chisox of years ago, "Win Ugly".

Who hasn't beaten Brad Lidge? he had done all right against Pujols this year up til yesterday. His collapse came when he hit Spezio. He has no control over his pitches anymore. The pitch Pujols hit off of him wasn't bad, it was inside and in good location, but Pujols is strong enough to fight it off and keep it fair. What can you say?

The Stros are done this year, in large part because of falling apart in series against St. Louis. No three-peat of the NLCS this year. Good luck in the playoffs.
