John Karr is clearly not the killer of Jon Benet. He is, however, quite a 'sicko.' Send him back to California to face those charges of child pornography. As things seem to stand right now, it looks like the Boulder police will never find the killer of Jon Benet. Although rumors seem to indicate that the FBI and Boulder police are taking a long look at Richard Jewel. (sarcasm?!) :)

Is it possible that the DA's office was using Karr to trip up or smoke out one of the Ramseys or other suspects?

If they had an investigator over in Thailand it seems that they could have picked up a DNA sample and saved themselves the expense of flying him back to the United States. Given that they chose this route, with little investigation of Karr's background (like talking with his family) one would like to think that there is a method to the madness. But I'm not sure that's the case.

Karr won't be charged with anything, anywhere

Didn't he skip the country and missing his arraignment on child porn charges in CA?

Karr was convicted in absentia for the 2001 charges; he'll almost certainly go to prison on that conviction.

I'm just wondering how long it takes to ascertain DNA match/mismatch? Why all the hoopla before this was determined? What a lot about nothing!

Asked what he will do after visiting Disneyland, Karr said jubilantly, "I am going to run for office as a Democrat Pervert in the United States House of Representatives."

A relative made this up and sent it to me in an email. I thought it was hilarious and had to post it.

The charges weren't ever brought. The hearing was canceled. They'll put him out on the street now.

Of course, we know where he'll go. Some Realtor will go open the lockbox on the former Ramsey house to show it to a prospective buyer, and BOO!!!

The ghost of Christmas past - spook Karr himself will be "high camp'ed" out in there, luxuriating in the essence of Patsy!

Rte66, I read that Karr was found guilty in absentia for the 2001 charges; if the article I read is true -- he'll go to jail on that conviction.

No - you have to be one of the tramps. Someone who claimed that for years and years did wind up in Florence, CO in the federal pen - if that's what you want, lol!

It appears that the Boulder DA office is grossly incompetent.

That said, it is remotely possible that they knew Karr was not guilty but were using him in an attempt to smoke out another suspect into saying something incriminating. In this scenario, they had to create a media circus.

That wasn't what the nice round figure was, but the note-writer didn't have her reading glasses on that night.

Considering Linda Arndt, the officer present at the time said this at her 1998 deposition:

And I see John Ramsey carrying JonBenét up the last three steps from the basement. And, um, and my mind exploded. I mean it literally, I saw black with thousands of lights. And everything that I had noted that morning that stuck out, instantly made sense. (pause, sigh) And JonBenét was clearly dead. And she's been dead for a while. I knelt next to her and I leaned down to her face. And John leaned down opposite me, and um, his face was just inches from mine...(pause, breath) and we had, um, a nonverbal exchange that I will never forget. And he asked if she was dead. And I said yes, she's dead. And I told him to go back to the room and to dial 911. And as we looked at each other, I remember, and I wore a shoulder holster; tucking my gun right next to me and consciously counting I've got 18 bullets."

You think John Ramsey was oblivious to the fact that this ineffectual and incompetent cop had already made up her mind who the perp was?

The whole case was compromised by incompetent police work starting with the first ineffectual search of the home.

The DA will be charging someone named exigent circumstances for the murder of confidence in the judicial system.

This entire case has been a replica of the OJ case from the beginning.

And there are only 35 "kidnappings for ransom," of all ages, children or adults, done per year in the US, all by amateurs and most as part of child custody battle.

The Anastasia case is still fascinating investigators because the bones of all the children have never been found. I believe one of the children continues to be unaccounted for.

I think Mary Lacy, the Boulder DA, has just done the impossible - made Judge Ito look like a legal mastermind.

The first reports I saw said he was picked up in Thailand for sex charges there first, but looking into it further I see that Thai officials said he didn't have any pending charges there. It could be that the initial reports were just completely false and made up out of thin air and he wasn't in trouble or under investigation for anything in Thailand, or it could be that he did get arrested in Thailand but they did not end up filing charges because he was going to be deported. Regardless, I'm just not so sure this guy killed the girl. He might have, but I'm thinking there is a pretty good chance he's just a nut or he was trying to get out of something in Thailand, or both. Several people have already "confessed" to this killing. That is not uncommon in famous cases. Nuts will say they did it, prisoners trying to get out of prison will lie and claim their cell-mate admitted to the killing and offer to testify in exchange for a deal. You have to be cautious about believing these claims without some strong corroborating evidence.
