Yes, I imagine you would have to be pretty careful with that kind of job.

In the nearly ten years since Jon Benet Ramsey’s death, I’ve spent little time pondering the identity of that little girl’s murderer. I’ve known the answer to that question for years.

Wow, too bad this super sleuth isn't a detective instead of a college professor / talkshow wannabe!

Tune in occasionally to The O’Reilly Factor

Hey, I wonder if Professor Adams has figured out who sexually harassed Andrea Makris. /sarc

Unfortunately, they lump all those convicted of sexual crimes together. So, it may be a guy who was convicted at age 18 of having sex with a 16 year old (not good, but does not make him a sexual predator).
I wish they would change the law to reflect what sort of sex crime the person was convicted of.

We tried to get uniforms (or uniform dress) at the school where I used to teach. It was defeated why? Because parents were against it.

"As a homeschooling parent, let me assure you that homeschooling is no vaccine against teen angst or rebellion."

Some rebellion and angst is a natural part of growing up. However, I would argue that what passes for expression of angst and rebellion in a homeschooled child is generally less problematic than the equivalent in a non-homeschooled counterpart.

I'll bet I'm not the only one who went to the website for tracking sex offenders and bookmarked it.

question: when you went to the site, did your neighborhood/ city automatically display without you entering any vital info? Mine did, and that leads me to question just what type of technology that site uses to locate my computer. It is a rather unsettling reminder of the Orwellian world we're living in.

And before anyone wastes keystrokes issuing the platitude "well, if you have nothing to hide, blah, blah, bull." I don't have anything to hide but I do enjoy my (illusion of) privacy.

And as to your query, because of that disturbing uneasiness and the fact that even now, after leaving the site, my computer (which is a bit older and, therefore, admittedly, technologically slower) is experiencing scrolling delays, I have not book marked it and will not be visiting it again. Too bad, because in theory, it is a good reference to have available.

....they want little girls because they are little girls, not adults.

Bingo!

...and he's right, and you're wrong.

What are you talking about? RKBA's post was in response to a sarcastic comment comparing people who have conservative views about the way children should dress to the Taliban. That's DU-think. You can't believe that's correct.

I thought the nineteen year old brother was out of state over Christmas.

Thank you for some common sense and compassion. In my opinion, people who make un-founded judgements about anyone are doing something far more reprehensible than putting stage makeup on a child for a special event.

Good thing there is no Statute of Limitations on murder.

Perhaps one day the cold case guys will solve it.

Keep up the good work. I truly believe it will pay off. As parents and grandparents-who-parent we've got a much bigger battle with the current society than our parents did. I've noticed that, in general, there is no shame anymore. Shame was a big motivator in my day.Of course,I grew up in '50's Houston. I look back wistfully for those days.

Did you hear that Dakota Fanning will be nude in her next movie? The reason for the nudity is that the scene will show her being raped. I haven't heard one peep of outrage.

I think Dakota Fanning has as much promise as any actress in a very long time; she will eventually win an Oscar no matter what, there is absolutely no reason she needs to do this.

I think all these ideas and suggestions are with regards to clothing are fine, as long as they are just suggestions and nothing more. Regarding the comments about the poster muryan, snidely saying they must be from DU becuase they disagree with your views is a tactic I see on a daily basis....AT DU. Certainly does not belong at freerepublic

I went to the website, what specifically shows that sexual offences do not have the highest recidivism rate?

We had eight years of no shame and no responsibility in the White House. Think it resonates within society at large?

Throwing people in jail for the rest of their lives on a first offence is police state.

Interesting new and unique defination for a police state.

If I walk outside right now and shoot an old lady in the head and they lock me up for life, that means I live in a police state...if thats my first crime ever?

Sounds like more of an endorsement for a police state then a condemnation of one.
