You certainly do!
It is a tad disturbing, babe, that you know so much about Jenny McCarthy and Carmen Electra...
;-)
Both posed - but neither had any "status" or name rec until MTV came calling.
Those eyebrows need a trim.
More like a strange knowledge of obscure 80's trivia....
as you well know....
I know someone else like that, you two seem like you'd make a match!
Gee, maybe you could introduce us sometime!
Yes I do.
I have a decent knowledge myself...but somehow...manage to get beat at certain trivia games...
That show was so funny. Everything from the cheesy set to the horrible jokes to the overstuffed armchairs.
Who?
Kennedy is a conservative? Oo. Be right back.....
Uhhh, maybe YOU!!
She certainly is.
Everybody knows this bit of trivia. But if you want to stump somebody, ask them what was the second video MTV played?
Answer: "You Better Run" by Pat Benatar.
"10. ENTER GRUNGE: Sept. 29, 1991:
And it was all over from there."
It was over for metal long before then. Guns & Roses closed the show.
Things have changed.
"Springsteen, Madonna,
Way before Madonna
There was U2, and Blondie
Music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
Tell her that she's uncool
'Cause she's so pre-occupied
With 19, 19, 1985..."
Without Beavis and Butthead we wouldn't have King of the Hill (Mike Judge)
These days my TV remote skips over (programmed it out)
Ch 28, which is MTV. I do have VH1, and that's for stuff
like I love the 70s.
OOPS!
that should say
"Way before NIRVANA" (:*(!)
True story: In Boston a UHF channel, WVJV-TV 66 ("V-66")
attempted to be like MTV. They couldn't get the rights to certain videos, so they ran one for Prince's "Raspberry
Beret" that simply focused on artwork on the cover!
>>Everything you see is for sale and is placed there by ad execs.
"Hi! I'm your video DJ!
I always sound like I'm wonked out on Quaaludes
I wear a satin baseball jacket everywhere I go
My job is to help destroy
What's left of your imagination
By feeding you endless doses
Of sugar-coated, mindless, garbage!
So don't create, be sedate
Be a vegetable at home and thwack on that dial
If we have our way, even you will believe
THIS is the future of ROCK'N'ROLL!"
--Dead Kennedys, "MTV Get Off The Air"
Mojo Nixon had a song in which he wanted to be
"Stuffin' Martha's (Quinn's) Muffin" and he made
fun of MTV in another song, I think. Next thing you
knew he was ON MTV...
Wow! I haven't thought of V66 in years. In retrospect, it was a pretty cheesy operation from its cut rate signal to its Community Access-worthy production values. However, it was a pretty cool to the (then) cable deprived suburbs. I had forgotten about the 'Raspberry Beret'. Thanks for the memories.
