"I got lost as well (and at night, too). I just smiled and made eye contact with everyone. "
Next time try flashing large sums of cash. It's a sure way to attract some "helpful" folk.

My nephew and I were in Times Square just last weekend. We spotted a guy crossing the street who was dressed from head to toe in green trash bags. I couldn't for the life of me convince my nephew that the way the guy was dressed indicated that he had a very serious psychiatric problem. That's the guys 'costume' for panhandling. There used to be/is a woman who would routinely wear a garbage bag and sit at the corner by tiffany's in cold weather, crying begging for money. Suckers gave her plenty of money.

That's the guys 'costume' for panhandling. Ah,c'mon..tell me that you're joking. Now I guess I'll have to admit to my nephew that he was correct! ;-)

Nope. The panhandlers are as honest as the 3 card monte scammers in NYC. Many of the 'homeless' asking for 4 are not homeless.

Your nephew sounds like a handsome and intelligent guy. He was wearing trash bags because it was a rainy day and what else can a homeless guy wear that's waterproof?
There, I've run rings around you logically!
