Couch referenced his mother's law firm on his myspace profile. A search pulled up the law suit against Duke.

Here's another useful search tool for possible relatives:

What is this guy thinking?

The judge gave him nothing. Addresses are easy to gather.

It isn't, if you don't mind everything you write being in public.

Its best use is as a publicity engine, not as a spot for trawling.

Most celebrities have Myspace sites because they are easier to update than other conventional websites.

Mr. S2R has one for his public persona as an Elvis Impersonator.

Yes, but surely he can pursue the records of someone who has been charged?

I believe so if it shows materiality or necessity. I assume other motions would be required.

It is not unusual for an investigation to continue after indictment. A legit prosecutor might find in- or ex-culpatory evidence and make a decision to drop charges on the latter. I know this is a theoretical point with Nifong involved, but it is not unusual to continue an investigation after an indictment.

Destine continues to cover his tracks. This site had a full profile earlier today. Gone now...

It sure is nice to see the impact from what people here find, isn't it? Poor guy, he could have gone about his milf-seeking in privacy but his office and boss decided that to win an election they were going to railroad some kids. I wonder if he wishes they had not barked up this particular tree afterall?

I agree with that. I think the main purpose of this fishing expedition was to try to find out info about Finnerty's alibi. Nifong needs that info so he can construct his timeline around it.

So if it is not the currently falsely accused, perhaps he is looking for someone who, ex post facto, can be identified by the alleged victim - someone Nifong believes does not have an alibi. They then become the target to get some statement on the currently falsely accused.

Once you have a corrupt and politically motivated DA all manner of unethical and illegal things can happen.

Titus did what I guessed he would - though I am not sure that his legal reasoning was on point. I assume such information has been requested before and that there are cases that interpret FERPA under similar circumstances. While I think we have a right to be paranoid about the behavior of Nifong, I would assume that he has been duly notified that all LAX players are represented by counsel and that therefore he needs to at least give notice to the lawyers if he wants to speak to any of the LAX players. If he tries to go around the lawyers, I cannot see any judge letting him get a way with it without a reprimand.

In the mean time, by initiating this fishing expedition, Nifong cost the parents of the LAX players say $5000 per player or roughly $200K across the board. He must have known it. His lawyer buddies will not mind - they are hooked to a gravy train. He s one piece of work.

I don't know where Howlin is, maggief. There was something about this case I read recently that I wanted to mention but I've forgotten now so I'll check in later if/when I remember. (That senior memory thing is getting embarrassing!)

I know I'm old...but not THAT old. My college kid has a "face book" page but this "Myspace" stuff is really scary. I looked at some of the ADA's friends sites. BIZARRE!

Young people often try to stand out. Now why an older assistant DA would want to try to stand out some much is a mystery to me. Why he would think such a site is appropriate for a professional person, probably speaks volumes about the decline in personal standards in the US.

C. Destine could be both: a supporter of Moro Islamic Liberation Front as well as interested in women with children. This thread is the first I ever heard of MILF.

Just because you've never heard of it doesn't mean it's not a big part of the pop culture. 99.99999% of the MILF references on the net are for the mommy lovers.

New motion today?

http://www.newsobserver.com/1185/story/462914.html

from the article.

Also today, lawyers for Reade Seligmann, 20, of Essex Fells, N.J., one of three players charged, filed a motion asking th judge to move the case along faster. It's a request Titus denied when Seligmann attorney Kirk Osborn asked in a court hearing Monday. In the filing, Osborn and Ernest Conner of Greenville, requested a date to hear two motions to suppress evidence. Titus had previously told Osborn that such motions would not be heard until all the state's evidence had been turned over to the defense.
