"Nothing beats flying a broom. Flying a pig or a goat is also OK, but then one has to feed and water them, and to deal with PETA."
When CNN praises Bush I will look into the pig thing.

"Better yet is to get a motorcycle (twins tend to be more fuel efficient than fours, small displacement more fuel efficient than large...)" Nothing beats flying a broom. Flying a pig or a goat is also OK, but then one has to feed and water them, and to deal with PETA.
It has never ceased to amaze me how some of my fellow conservatives develop tunnel vision when the national security implications of oil consumption and "free" trade are brought up.

There's no tunnel vision here. To create the infrastructure for coal-to-oil conversion on a truly massive scale would take 5-10 years. To do the same for cellulosic ethanol would take the same time, and nothing on this planet could speed it up, not even oil at $150/bbl. Bush recognized as much when he was mentioning the work on ethanol from cellulose: getting closer, but not there yet. In 10-15 years, but no sooner, we will probably have a viable alternative energy setup. So what is one to do till then?
