Are we talking just about Black & Tan Coonhounds, which the AKC has registered for ages (as mentioned)?

Or talking ANY coonhound, or some other non-B&T like Bluetick, or etc?

Hey, for someone who knows dogs better than I do -- what exactly classifies a dog as a hound. Are they just scent-tracking hunting dogs, as opposed to the retrieving kind, etc.

I think Bassett Hounds are strangely cute. Coonhounds are just out and out pretty.

AKC has added a few breeds lately, I just went to their site and was surprised to see that Dogue de Bordeaux was added. I stood in a vaccination line yesterday next to one of those beasts.

The Redbone Coonhound has been AKC since 2001. They are great dogs, but that bark!
