Bravissimi i nostri campionissimi! In Italia, il chaos piu` assoluto, ma i nostri bravi giocatori se lo meritavono.
BTW, anyone notice on the USA transmission on ABC, how biased the commentator seemed to be against the Italian team?
W l'Italia!

"Who doesn't jump is a French!" This has the makings of another MAJOR Free Republic craze-line!!!
Agree
To: SoothingDave
That's a good idea. We'll put up David Ortiz.

All I know is the the announcer - O'Brien - has only done six (6) soccer games in his life, before his World Cup experience.
ESPN/ABC could have had a knowledgeable announcer who would be able to explain the offside call to new viewers, and get into some strategery such as there is. BUT NO! They wanted an "American" voice instead of an English, Scottish or Irish accent - broadcasters who've done hundreds of games.

A curse be upon O'Brien's mustache and the rest of the Disney crew. I'm so mad at the coverage I could spit. There is no international sporting event that American broadcasters cannot ruin.

Anybody know what caused Zidane to go berserk? I don't know, but it reminded me of John Starks head-butting Reggie Miller several years ago. A smart player can always make a stupid player do what they do best.

Congrats, was just in Italy a couple weeks ago. I am so glad Italy won and not France or Germany, but especially the French.
To: guinnessman
No offense, but the only only reason why I clicked on this thread was to see if there were any photos of young Italian women celebrating. I was kind of cheering for Portugal myself.
To: dfwgator
And the penalty at the start of the game was a joke.

I have to agree, I was shocked France got that call, and Zidane almost missed that one. We almost had another Geoff Hurst moment.

Disgusting!
Yet he still won the golden ball.
I bet most of those journalists who voted for him would like their vote back.

Matarazzi allegedly called Zindane a 'terrorist' on the pitch before the assault.

Very provocative, but no excuse for his behavior.

Zizou said Materazzi called him "terrorist" 'cause he's from Algeria... I personally don't mind. Zinedine Zidane is a French and I don't like France.
