We buried my mother's ashes ourselves, and we brought our own shovel to plant the tree. Because the cemetery is an unmanaged one, we went ourselves to water the tree if it needed water. If you're just burying ashes, why bother with a cemetary? Find a state or national forest, dig a hole, plant the tree, you're done.

We wanted a marker there next to her parents, and next to where I will be. We have family plots there, everyone gets their name on a piece of granite somewhere, to prove they were here. As long as we're burying urns, we can fit a lot more of us in our plot :~D

I remember a colleague of mine years ago decried Earth Day because he felt it was becoming a religion to many.
I used to think he was kidding... now I am more convinced that he wasn't.
