Ya know, I go away for the weekend... every day seems to be a blockbuster. I'm trying to catch up on all that we've learned today and I'm just astonished.
That dreadful Meadows woman just did a 180. Holy smokes! TWO write-on candidates against Nifong?
When is this story going to end?
What "compelling evidence" does Nifong have? And why hasn't he turned it over to the defense?
I hope it ends Thursday when Reid Seligmann goes back in front of Judge Stevens. But I fear he is going to do the easy thing and just pass the buck on to the trial judge. I don't think Nifong has anything. If he did, he was suppose to turn it over to the defense.
He has nothing. He was hoping to string this along until the election. However, he has national attention, defendants from outside of Durham (from the big city), the media now on his butt, and Bennett doin' his thang. It isn't going at all like he planned. He was hoping that the attention would die down, one reason he's pissed at Newsweek and the media, and he could still play his constituancy race card.
I missed Wendy because I was out.
I want to see that. How can Wendy continue to say such things. She has to be "exposing herself" civilly.
There is no basis for her comments. The network is irresponsible also, IMO.
Would they let someone come on repeatedly and make damning statements about the AV with absolutely no evidence? Would they stop them and require them to cite sources? Would they ask how no one else knows this information?

As Fieger said tonight, there is no recourse against Nifong. Fieger says he has absolute immunity. I thought he did too, but here on FR, we discussed this two months ago and I was corrected by one of our prosecutor posters. Nifong has qualified immunity from an action by the players. And unless a miracle happens at the general election, Nifong won't be tossed from office for four years. And... what makes anyone think that the majority of his voting constituency is displeased with his prosecution of the "privileged" white boys?

Fieger and these lawyers are used to advising people based on practicalities. You don't sue unless there's assets to gain.
I HOPE, only HOPE, that the player's families (plus donations) will be able to get Nifong into a deposition. That would do wonders for clearing them and incriminating Nifong. I could see Nifong doing about as well as O.J. in a deposition.
Remember the yelling that could be heard across the building when Nifong let loose on one tirade?
I don't have a clue about the legal angles. I'm only stating that most statements are made from the conventional angle - a financial settlement.

I am a college prof. Do some college profs try to take credit for the work of others? Sure. Ward Churchill is not the only case ever. Hammer really should understand the harm Nifong is doing and that prosecutors should be all over his case.
I was a bit surprised that Meadows was not more unhappy with Nifong given that he released her phone number and private e-mail.

Yes, I heard she said that DNA was found on an foreign object used on the woman.
Why doesn't the original search warrant direct the officers to this object? Why didn't Dan Abrams see it?
It's been over 3 months since the party. New scientific evidence at this point is highly unlikely.
Poor Finnerty is going to getting screwed in this DC brawl case. Judge Stevens needs to think about what Nifong's actions are going to do to him.
Could that be the "chemical analysis" that we were wondering about before? Could it be crystal's, um, "equipment" from her previous engagement?
