I thought cousin Jakki was the he/she that worked at the male strip club..and cousin Jackie was the one making her 15 minutes of fame saying the False Accuser now screams at the sight of white men....sigh.
First of all, there are 70,000 criminal cases, which include misdeameanors and felonies. Second, in any jurisdiction the vast majority of cases never reached trial, either because charges are dropped or because the defendant pleads guilty. Unlike this case, most of the time the defendant is guilty, and the state has credible evidence to convict, so he or she cuts their losses. Prosecutors are actually supposed to be able to look at cases and generally determine winners and losers. Generally, neither side wants a trial because juries are too unpredictable, and for the state trials are expensive. So typically 90%+ of criminal cases are resolved prior to trial.
Many things may happen in a year
The alleged victium could die. Nifong could die. Evidence of the rape could be found.
That 70,000 figure seems extraordinary. What's the population of Durham?

Hope you're feeling better and that you can shed some light on this idiot judge. I'm just sick for these poor guys and their families. There ought to be a law to keep out of control prosecutors in check. It's not enough that this farking D.A. is making these guys wait a year to clear their names in a trial, they've got to completely put their lives on hold and continue to live under the false premise that they've done something wrong when ALL the evidence proves otherwise.
Nifong deserves to be tortured and ruined, and I'm not so sure this judge doesn't deserve the same. This judge is either bought and paid for, or he's scared of retaliation from the black militants, as he should insist on this trial getting underway no later than July. I'm praying for some long overdue justice.
