Thanks for the ping Archy!
Humble, come look.
Semper Fi, Mac, we got your back. But I hope you're heading for a well-chosen defensible spot.
I sure as hell hope you're wrong or our children will be living in a hell on earth.
It begins with an individual who plants his feet solidly and says No! Then others stand alongside, then more who provide defense in depth. Eventually the right leader for the job at hand comes along, and some from that group will split off to begin the process anew where and as needed. The question is whether or not their efforts will be productive and timely, or too little too late.
More than likely we'll just go back to watching American Idol...
Never seen it. Too busy. But I am sort of fond of Stargate SG-1. Hey, they've run for better than ten years now, better than West Wing
I'm getting old.
This needs to get moving if I'm to be of any use.

Put you with a couple of too-eager and inexperienced teenagers, a recent veteran of the sandbox, and you'd be a neat little team not unlike a WWII-Pacific Marine fire team very capable of dealing with whatever tasking came your way.
Getting too old and creaky to kick doors anymore? Come teach our youngsters; I'm due for a grandson in a couple of months, and I'd be pleased and proud to have him learn from you.
42 on Friday and I can still kick doors and pack all day.
Just not many days, and not as cheerfully.
Come teach our youngsters; I'm due for a grandson in a couple of months
Eldest son Michael (16) was just bitching at me about that
and I told him any knowledge I had was WAY out of date.
I'd be pleased and proud to have him learn from you.
To higher praise I cannot aspire.
Should the orders come down, though.. we'll get 'er done.
Did you see the one where "Jack" shot the Senator? Yeah, that show can be satisfying on a number of levels.
BTW, that episode featured a slick little take-down Remington 700. I'd like more info on that one; any idea what custom shop was responsible for that piece of work?
I think that was one of the Tanaka Airsoft toys, often used in Hollywoodland as standins for the real thing. And still popular in Britain, where they've not gotten around to confiscating them- yet. But I think McBros turns out something similar. Let me check and get back with you; my catalogues and references are all at home.
No more whining from you, troop; I've got 16 years on ya and I'm far from done yet.
Yeah, we'll get it done.
Well, I've always overplayed the "cheerfulness" aspect anyway.
Don't let the pup try to fool ya Archy.
He is strong as an ox and twice as ugly. Fouler temper than a pregnant camel too.
The bulk of the population has no stomach for it. Never had, never will.
If they want to tango, we know the steps. We are those "rough men standing ready to do violence" that Orwell is credited with penning.
Terrible mistake to assume they can simply become violent if their position is wrong and illegal. This will not help any.
