All at the insistence of Nifong. See post #19.

how can he be "known to the Durham police department"? do they have his DNA? where did they get it? or do they have his admission that he had sex with her, and perhaps he gave a sample after admitting to it?
To: oceanview
that's not the way you operate a fair lineup, by including only persons from the pool of possible perps.
Let's play pin the tail on the defendant.

Someone prominent, perhaps? Not likely. If it was, the name would have been leaked by now.

"There is no indication that this man should have his name dragged through the mud,"
If the DNA of this "man" is in the Durham Police database, I dare say that he doesn't have a name that a little mud could damage.

I've read all the articles posted on FR and there was at least one which stated the cops had told Nifong the lineup procedure was improper/unconstitutional. There have been several articles that indicated that the cops did not like the way Nifong took over the investigation.
IOW, their attitude was, "You want to run this investigation; go ahead, and we will sit back and watch you screw it up by yourself." You think the cops wanted to be associated with this Charlie Foxtrot?
I have a good memory and know how to connect the dots.

this case is over, by any reasonable standard. It was over when Reade produced an air-tight alibi but that didn't stop Nancy Grace's pretzel logic to convince us that facts lie. She and Whorealdo were besides themselves with glee when learning DNA appeared on the fake fingernail. Presser is on now on Nancy Grace. Can't wait to hear her spin this.

Since it was male DNA, it IS possible for them to determine the race of the "donor." Wouldn't that set the fur flying!

Since it was male DNA, it IS possible for them to determine the race of the "donor." Wouldn't that set the fur flying! Well, since they already know who he is, his race is not a mystery.
The real question is whether the accuser admitted to having sex with him.
If she didn't there should be a lot of fallout, including prosecution of the accuser. False police report & all that.
I wonder if he was a boyfriend, her pimp, or a customer?
To: KittyKares
The "single male source" who matched the genetic material found on the vaginal swab taken from the victim ... "is known to the Durham police department," Cheshire said. He declined to give the man's name or comment on his relationship with the accuser. "There is no indication that this man should have his name dragged through the mud," he said.
Someone prominent, perhaps?
More likely someone who 'employed' her as an 'escort' earlier in the evening.
It would seem logical that in whatever interveiws she gave the Durham PD, someone would have asked if she had sex earlier in the evening and then that individual would have been contacted for a swab to elimanate his DNA as suspect.
The media continues to forget that this woman is a ho.

If the woman could reasonable be suspected to be a "ho" Nifong should be prosecuted.
Get out the popcorn...
To: zaxxon
I saw the presser. Nifong's "Case" got blown clean out of the water IMO. He wanted this to be the case that made his career. Nifong is toast.

yes, but by who? I don't know much about NC state politics - would the state attorney general go after him?
To: oceanview
Yes. I think it's possible the NC state Attorney General's office could investigate. Someone should investigate Nifong's actions in this case.

Is Nifong still going to proceed with an indictment on Monday? The grand jury is meeting and supposedly he was going to present evidence of a "match" and indict a third player.
