Actually, Brown's interested in making a ton of money. He knew an attack on Christianity would be greeted enthusiastically by the "beautiful people", while an attack on Islam would not only get him dis-invited to the right cocktail parties, it would get him targeted for a Jihad. So he attacks a faith he can attack safely and with a good profit margin, while maintaining his PC credentials with the fine wine & limousine crowd.
I won't defend Klinghoffer, whose work I do not follow, but Sages like the Meiri, Jacob Emden, Jonathan Eybeschutz, and even Rambam found postives about Christianity. And the practical halacha is that (non-Jewish) Christians are not considered true idol-worshippers.

I had the misfortune to sit through the trailer for this piece of Hollyweird schlock when I went to see United 93. Even the trailer is insulting, with its reference to "the con of man", implying that Jesus as the Son of Man is a phony. Then the words "Seek the Truth" appear on the screen at the trailer's end, as if this movie is the truth. Talk about going out of their way to insult and hurt people of faith!

It certainly is insulting and hurtful, and so easy to pick on peaceful Christians. The cowards wouldn't even consider doing such a book/movie on Islam.
I get annoyed, too, when there are trailers/promos about offensive entertainment at the movies, or on tv, when I am watching something good.

Speaking from a hypothetical Catholic viewpoint, it's as if he envisions a better-than-Catholic church. What does the rest of the RCC think about this? They can't logically be mute about a movement that would, if it could, swallow up the whole church -- can they?

The people that believe The Davinci Code is true, need to be remindedof Revelations 22 :18-19, which states:

Why can't a Jew have faith in Jesus? It's not beyond the realm of possibilities.
It's not beyond the realm of possibilities, it's called conversion to Christianity. Jews can also find faith in Lord Vishnu, Allah or Quetzaquoatl or they could just stick to being Jews, which seems to work pretty well.
You know, I don't really want to argue with you about this Jews for Jesus stuff. I don't think anybody else here does, either. It's not interesting, it has nothing to do with conservative politics, and it seems like a waste of our time.
