I've heard a few real cops call up & tell Jay Santos that what he was doing was illegal. Or some angry guy would threaten to kick his butt if he ever tried anything with him. That never seemed to faze him.
To: Rick Deckard
A couple of years back, Jay said they were going to start pulling people over and taking a few gallons of gas out of their car since gas prices were so high, and they needed it for their patrol cars. He said all the cops were being issued siphoning equipment and they were going to randomly pull people over and 'you know, just take five or six gallons...we're not going to empty your tank or anything'. Oh man, the people that called in were LIVID!! LOL!!!!

As long as he had his blue armband on, he could do just about anything.
"Jay Santos is a 36 year old, former postal worker and current brigadier general of the California Citizens Auxiliary Police, a volunteer police organization with about 60 members. Jay usually speaks with Phil from the CCAP sub-station (Jay's basement) in Hawthorne, California. identifying members of the CCAP should not be difficult due to their distinctive uniforms: white, safari-style pith helmets, bemuda shorts, wingtips and a blue armband."

I'd give anything if they'd replace Savage and his stupid french taxi song with Levin on my drive home. WIND 560AM Chicago- are you listening??
That'll be a problem. Levin is on 890 WLS.

He'll be missed. He was excellent in his craft to be himself as the host, and his guest at the same time, all done live.

Hendrie is an acquired taste, but once you "get it", he's great. That's certainly the truth. The first time I heard him, I couldn't figure his show out at all. Even some of his stuff before Y2K were just hysterically funny. Particularly his spoofs of Art Bell. Callers who didn't know better wondered why Art was on so early in the evening, or bought the hysterically funny insanity provided by General Johnson Jameson (Hendrie's Art Bell frequent guest).

He also had an "Ace Of Spades" (wildcard) line, and a phone number for those "east of Maine and west of Easter Island", both were 1 800 449 8686.

A few of my favorite Hendrie characters were Steve Bozell, Mavis Leonard, Jay Santos & of course, Ted Bell.
They're all great characters but the best bit ever has to be Mavis Leonard's "all you can eat negro"
I have it in mp3 if anyone wants a copy.

I missed that. It must have generated quite a few calls. David G. Hall could be pretty rough on Hendrie.
Re: Your tagline. Did ever get into the new Jonny Quest?

I loved the show where he spoofed Art Bell interviewing a pilot flying over Area 51, and then being shot down. Freepin hilarious!

No can do on the new JQ...I am however really into watching the Boomerang channel on Dish Network. Round the clock classics...standard Cartoon Network is a disgrace for classic cartoons now...although I do appreciate some Adult Swim.

Hadn't heard him since he left KFI (other than Team America). Hope it's a good move for him. First show I heard in 1999, the lady in the Western Estates had held a barbecue. She was upset because the person bringing the meat for the grill had bought it from Ralphs grocery rather than upscale Gelson's. She wanted to have the lady who bought the meat evicted from the neighborhood, and wanted to call the ambulance to have the guests' stomachs pumped since they'd eaten lower class meat!

Another similar character was crusty old attorney, Harvey Wireman. Remember when he tried to say Bernard Caric's name and called him Bennaboo Giggi? Phil will be missed for the reason that so many talk shows are predictable.
My two favorites were Harvey and Lloyd Bonafide. I've got 10 hours of Harvey, and 9 of Lloyd. And I'll spring them on anyone not paying attention.
Are you for real?
