Mmm..kippers...
*sigh*
I'm trying to sit at the computer, and I have Tam wandering between me and the keyboard, yowling because he wants attention, and Cisco trying to lick my elbows as I type. I'm glad my critters like me, but...sometimes...
A schpadoinkle day is a ~good~ day. Is this a good day? :~D
The sky is blue and all the leaves are green.
The sun's as warm as a baked potato.
I think I know precisely what I mean,
When I say it's a shpadoinkle day.
No pretty much not anymore.
We just got word that a co-worker (she was the Boss Troll's assistant) passed away this morning. Not unexpected. She's been battling cancer for the past two years and had gone home with hospice on Friday.
Expected. But sad.
Cancer sux.
Heh...I ended up running out and buying the CD because I couldn't get it out of my head. ;-)
It really does. Sorry Corin
Morning!
My spaghetti squash (I used seeds from a store-bought squash) are coming up and so are my cucumbers. I think I'll plant more okra today...the bunnies keep pruning the ones I've already got.
Is it 4:00 yet?
Ouch!
The same thing happens on my hands too. But I've found that Curel lotion works wonders!
Hi there.
Only one more week in this cubicle. Thank heaven! :-)
I've never had a "kipper". And I don't know if I ever will.
Least of all for breakfast, :-P
I love LOST.
I cna't wait to watch it with Ramius and get him hooked too! ;-)
Ooh, yeah, I'll vouch for that. I had a lot of trouble in Colorado because it was so dry - my hands were always sore. Curel is the only thing I found that worked well, and I tried a buncha stuff.
So far so good with my Kentucky Wonder beans...the bunny hasn't put forth any effort to get to them.
But I think I saw a squash vine borer moth on the leaf of my pattypan this morning...I went to get the pyrethrum spray and it was gone when I got back...but I'm watching for it. They lay little brown eggs and I didn't see any...
Talk about depressing...a hugh beautiful squash plant reduced to a pile of wilted leaves in a matter of hours. We've already got enough squash off the plants to justify their purchase, but still...
I'll have to pick up some Curel...right now the neosporin has softened it so it's not so uncomfortable.
I love smoked kipper snacks! Mmmmm! Joshua and I enjoy them so much on crackers...
If we can find out what did that, and replicate it all over, a whole lot of kids would have a better Thanksgiving :~D
OK. If you all would allow me a small vent.
When I dropped off Alyson at the daycare this morning, the owner asked to speak with me.
Basically, she said that she thinks I should have Alyson tested because she feels that Alyson's inability to sit still or follow instructions for more than a moment could be a sign of ADHD or even autism.
They took all of the kids to the theatre and Alyson was running around the whole time saying she wanted to leave. The same thing happened when they took a field trip to Chuck E Cheese.
She also said that Alyson knows all of the colors, but will not say letters. She will say a word that begins with the letter, but not the letter itself. For example, she'll say "Becky" when you show her the letter "B".
I left there feeling pretty aggravated with the owner because I don't think Alyson has anything wrong with her. She's only turning four at the end of the month and the first 2 years of her life were spent at home with my mom who let her do whatever she wanted.
I feel her behavior isn't really all that abnormal for her age and if anything, being spoiled for the first two years of her life is the cause for her refusal to follow some instructions and her desire to want to do her own thing. She does sit and watch a complete TV show at home and listens as well as most kids her age. At least, in my opinion she does. :-)
The owner did agree with me when I pointed out the tremendous progress Alyson has made in the year she's been there. And I also pointed out that autistic children are mostly male and are not affectionate or social like Aly is.
And being a slow learner does not automatically mean they have a learning disability. Not that I think Aly is a slow learner either. I think she just doesn't want to be bothered with things that don't interest her and she's too young to realize that it is rude to just walk away from someone, even if they are boring you to tears.
I don't think that I'm being a parent in denial and I don't think all children who are high-energy need to be medicated. Especially at such a young age.
ANyway, I'm just so glad that I'll be able to be home with her now. If there's a major problem, I'll address it - but I just don't see that.
Thanks for letting me vent, folks.
Mornin'... :-)
Well... everything seems to be in order around here...
The plants I have out now are around 8 inches tall and I've got screens around them, sprayed them with Deer-off, and put cat fur out there. TheBunnies like to snip the leaves off and take a good portion of the stalk with them. I'm going to try raising some in thesunroom at least until they get tall enough and the stalks tough enough for a bunnie's taste.
I've got some other varmint chewing the leaves down to the veins so I gave 'em a good squirt of cyfluthrin and imidacloprid...that'll learn 'em!
