Yeah...the server dealie on Friday had gone an hour later than anticipated, so I got to take off an hour early today.

Of course, it's too durned hot to do much. I need to get the new blade on the mower and see if that works, but I'm not all that motivated to do much besides play with the hose.

That's all I do on days like this... play with the hose...

How is it in the house, can you open windows and cool it off in there?

I can crack windows. Not much more than that, but at least they're pretty much across from one another in places, which helps.

It isn't actually toooo horribly bad to have it hot inside, 'cause when I'm in, I'm not moving around.

Mowing in this weather, on the other hand...

I just heard back from SGT G., the recipient of our first-and-only Hobbit Hole chef's knife set.

-------

Dear Richard

I did get the set almost two weeks ago. I've been swamped at work and with our internet down a lot I'm now getting caught up. The knives are very nice both in looks and in use. The knives are lighter than what we have in our Mess Hall and some thought that may affect long term use. If it did it seems to have helped.

My boss said it may add to hand and arm fatuge by having to push the knife through when chopping food because it was too lightweight. But if anything it's easier due to the weight (it's not lightweight but lighter than what we have) the sharpness and the polished blade makes it easy to use. The handles are of a material that is both durable and have a positive nonslip grip. The blades on the larger chef's knives are stiff and on the somewhat thinner and narrower blades have a more flexable blade as it should be.

I don't leave them at work to take good care of them but if I have business elsewhere before work I'm asked to go get them. I did miss the pig roast to use them, the pig day was moved up before the knives got here. Oh well, these are popular knives here and I thank you very much for them. I'm trying to transfer to a special forces Mess hall here at [redacted] if so these knives are going with me! Although thay need cooks in a bad way I doubt [redacted] will let me go. Bummer for me. Well I need to go for now but I will send photos and and keep in touch. Thanks for the great set of knives.

Well...the mower is just your typical noisy mower now, best I can tell - no loud clunking. Guess that fixed the problem for now, though I hope I got the bolt tight enough.

And now that I know the blades for this mower are under seven bucks, I won't stress out so much about using it...

It's too hot to mow. But it's too hot to do anything else, either. Ungh.

Was that your mower I heard? Sounded good, like the new blade fixed it, if it was.

Yep. Realized after I'd started it that I'd never prepped for mowing...i.e. picking up all Cisco's toys and "toys", so I stopped. But it sounds OK now.

It sounds like these knives will be with him for the rest of his military career. And he'll have great stories to go with his knives, starting with this one.

Heh...dollar a day ain't bad...

Whew...did I mention it's hot? Worse in here, though.

I *think* I'm getting slightly better at mowing puzzles. Still need to learn about weedwhacking 'em, though.

Evening Talon; excellent choice in riflery. The 10-22 is a classic that has stood the test of time. I plan to investigate the fiber optic sights, I've heard good things about them (especially for 'over 40' eyes).

Looks like Jen is getting ready for Shootmoot II. Congrats.

Nothing too serious...never hit anything hard enough to stop the mower. So...there's that.

It's probably a good thing it's a thirty five dollar lawn mower, though. ;-)

Done the front and I ran outta gas. I'm thinkin' the back can wait.
