It was a pretty day! I know I wouldn'ta felt like moving fast in this heat either, though. Maybe that's what was gettin' to the horses.
Isn't it supposed to be even hotter tomorrow? Ick.
And it's just spring :~D We all have to adjust to functioning in heat :~)
At least this year it's doubtful I'll deal much with heat in the triple digits.
Yeah, at least it was a dry heat...but so is the heat in an oven.
We'll get enough days in the 90's and it'll feel hotter over there than it does here. There are days where I just go out and spray my head down with a hose :~D
You will be welcome to come sit in our shade at your convenience on those evenings. :~D
Thank you!I spent Mother's Day with my mother at the Ren Faire in Waxahachie. They printed free mom's day entry coupons in Friday's Dallas Morning News, so we cut out two coupons and went. The only things we spent money on were karateboy's entry ticket ($6.50), and 6 more dollars for the maze and the elephant ride!
Picture a multitude of "My Little Ponies", with a couple of similarly drawn baby dragons and kittens.
I'll go ponder the weirdness of it all for a minute or so :D
~yawn~
Izzit 24 yet?
Jen & Talon: Please pick up the white courtesy phone.

Good morning, my friends!
I'm BACK!
For the first time in about 3-4 weeks I have time to just sit down and freep. No school, no thesis, no company, no need to hide the milk man. The kids are even still in bed right now.
I think I've pretty well caught up...building looks nice, g'nad, Rosie...the improvements are great. Lotsa gardening going on.
We had that bad hail storm, you know...it really did a number on the garden, but everything looks like it's going to make it. I did a lot of cleaning yesterday, pulled up all the spinach that had bolted, pulled up and harvested the collards, planted a couple of patio tomatoes in their place. Also planted 4 various yellow tomatoes (the birds don't bother them so much), 5 pepper plants, (three sweet and two hot), and one eggplant. I had to plant the patio tomatoes in hardware cloth baskets sunk in the ground like the squash and I wrapped the pepper roots in steel wool. I have to make another basket for the eggplant, but the four yellow tomatoes are in the hardware cloth lined bed.
Did I tell you (I forget if I did) about seeing the turnips moving around? I thought it was a bunny or a toad, but then I saw it was a garlic plant whipping back and forth violently and hitting the turnips. Then ZIP! The garlic plant just zipped in the blink of an eye, right down into the ground! I told Steve about it and even though I know he believed me...still, I was relieved when we were sitting out in the yard yesterday evening and Steve said "Why are the peas moving like that?" We sat and watched as a pea plant thrashed violently around then with 4-5 efforts (it was attached to a pea fence, after all), the pea slid into the ground and it was like it never existed. Steve sat with his mouth hanging open! LOL! I said "See! I told you so!"
The hail messed up the seals on our shop roof and it leaked...we repainted it with new sealant yesterday.
It's good to be back! It's been an exhausting month since the defense and I'm looking forward to relaxing. I'm waiting for Steve's resume...he's going to email it to me. That is the next great task ahead...
Harvest update...
We're still able to harvest the occasional mild radish, we've recently eaten squash, lettuce, snow peas, turnips and the really big deal, carrots! I pulled carrots last night that were at least 8 inches long!
I'll try to get some updated pictures today.
Well without a picture or explanation, it was a weird post :~D
Good morning everyone!
Hi 2J! ~waves~ Glad you could make an appearance!
Well, last night I had a dream, I think the fact that Ruthy is coming up here is sinking into my subconscious! In the dream, Ruthy brought with her an enormous pet alligator. She said she had had this alligator for 18 years and he was a pet. He adored Ruthy, and she carried him around, though he was HUGE, like the crocs on Crocodile Hunter, he was docile as a lamb.
The problems started when she'd try to take him swimming, because our water was too cold, and he'd get all lethargic and we'd have to go haul him out because he couldn't move.
So we took him to a zoo type place to stay up here, but they called a few days later and said he was too depressed, too bonded to Ruthy and she had to come back, he wouldn't eat.
We picked him up from the zoo place, and were trying to figure out how to build him a big pond that would be heated when I woke up :~D
So there's that.
All kinds of pop-psych stuff you could read in to that...heh heh!!
I'm munching on a bagel that I got at Creek Clean Up. Which I'm fixin' to tell you more about here in a sec. Uploading pictures.
Mornin'!
Hair - saw the trail ride pics on the newblog. Just gorgeous out there! Oh, and I agree about the ~bad~ pony. ;-)
2J - glad to see you back, chica!
Corin - just a couple more weeks before "24" wraps up. Wonder how they're going to manage to have Kim kidnapped and rescued in a couple of hours.
Jen & Talon - how's the drywall comin' along?
All - well, I did have a plan to come in and get all caught up since I have 48 hours until SmoochMoot begins. But of course, my ever-reliable payroll partner called in sick with the "stomach flu" once again. Grrrrr....
My sweet little Frankie. He just wants to be loved.
What Smoochmoot? Is another one planned? I presume Jen is at Talon's?
~chuckling~
Maybe that picture stuck in my head... the gator pet was a lot bigger in my subconscious though :~D
yup
I'm going up to Washington this Wednesday thru Sunday so Ramius and I can hopefully get a house.
:-)
