I tell ya, though, my friend...that Benny Hen was one amazing chicken. She was extremely personable. The others had their characters, but Benny was a real people chicken! LOL! She was completely happy sitting on my lap and would make this very sweet coo.
Yesterday, before Steve came home, I sat out in the run with her and she walked up to me, but couldn't get up on my lap and I didn't dare pick her up for fear I'd hurt her...so I just reached down and stroked her feathers under her crop...she made that sweet sound with that awful gaping hole in her back.
Yeah...I suppose I could. Hard to know how to word it without sounding accusing, though.
Grrrrr! Is there some sort of conspiracy that has decided I'm not allowed even one - ONE!? - fully working appliance in this house??
Does this mean there's a problem with thenewrefrigerator? Hopefully you refer to theoldone.
I make no pretense at being a mechanic (or anything of the sort). But the dryer thing should be fixable. I'm just not sure how spendy/difficult it would be.
email the guy and just say "did it ever do this for you?" and if he has the owners manual and maybe ask for suggestions where you might get it repaired. That's not accusatory or threatening.
Don't worry about accusing, he said it would work and it has a problem. Maybe hold back from calling him a filthy cheating bastage.... just say "It doesn't appear to shut off by itself, "ever".
Wait.. is there a button or setting called "de-wrinkle" or something? I had one that would keep the laundry moving so it didn't get wrinkled.
Perfect. For me and I'm gonna send it to Steve's pager.
There's a cycle called "Wrinkle Guard", but that's separate from the others.
No - new refrigerator works like a champ. It's the only thing in this place that does. Well...the washer works, but one of the faucets going to it leaks if you turn it beyond a trickle.
The washer and dryer are prolly twenty years old, so I feel like if they *don't* work, they aren't worth what I paid. But I guess I ask the guy about the problem and hope for the best.
Hmmm... Nothing like it in the buttons? I think it's meaningful that the heat shuts off when it keeps going.
Heh....mine did that. I replaced the faucets.
It just needs a new faucet back there.... But it explains why the floor was rotted out back there.
New faucets....plumber's putty....a good wrench...
Well...the first time, it didn't cool off. That was with the "auto dry". Not sure why it cooled off the second time.
Well, if it helps any, we've had all those problems in a house we ~paid~ for (or will pay for until the day we die)...
I know that doesn't really help. But it does factor into what I was thinking this morning. I don't want to be a burden for the boys. Wife and I need to think about retirement and I'm thinking one of those retirement communties where you can transition into different levels of care.
Then I thought "heck, I'd go today..."
;-)
OK - ask him about it... if it won't shut off, we'd be justified in taking it back to him...
That other set still available?
As a Rupe Goldberg fix... Becky suggested, maybe one of those little light timers would work... just set it to shut off in an hour. You can't reach the outlet to put it there, but we could plug it into a power strip and hang the power strip on the wall behind with a timer on it.
In a way, it wouldn't bother me as much if I'd paid for this place (though I wouldn't wanna do that), because I wouldn't be throwing money away. I've put a LOT of my own cash into this place, but when I tried to point that out to the land lady who was giving me a hard time about deposits and all, I got indifference and basically was told "Well, we'd help, but you won't let us..." When I *told* the landlord about the fridge and all, and he wouldn't believe it wasn't working. Etc.
Anyway, I'm just ranting. I'm kind of a mess right now anyway what with people having been and gone and not knowing how i shoulda handled certain things and worrying about spending cash I don't have on things that don't work as they should.
We haven't mentioned the punch line... we had to take the door off the bathroom to get it in there, and there's no way the door will go back on with the dryer there.
There is a sudden bounty of washer/dryers on Craigslist - about half a dozen posted yesterday. But I really hate the hassle. Hate it.
I'll ask him. Hopefully he responds quickly. He did say to "call", but e-mail is probably easier to get wording right.
*sob*
You're going to run a dryer off a power strip?!
I don't think they make power strips that would work.
