"Why can't Mr. Rohrbacher be a good American and give up his tax payer paid perks and work in the fields?"
Ask him.

If it pays at least ten dollars an hour, I will. Last time I checked at Roosevelt Field, a housecleaner was paid six dollars an hour to clean toilets all the disgusting mallrats left behind.

I worked on a farm every summer from the time I got out of diapers (family farm and everybody who doesn't pee his pants has a job in the busy season.) If somebody would pay me enough, I might return to that kind of work in my retirement. It is hard physical work, the kind that makes you sleep like a dead thing once you get over all your pains and fall asleep, but it is honest, healthy work that keeps you in good shape.

At the last shop I worked in, Janitorial was a level 2 job and was somewhat desirable over entry level line work. I think it paid $9 an hour.

You assume that the jobs now occupied by illegal immigrants are incapable of being performed by any other means (much the same way that plantation owners assumed that agriculture could not survive without slave labor).
If an economic practice is valuable, the marketplace will recognize that value. On the other hand, if an economic activity exists only by virtue of subsidized labor, the free market would not long tolerate it.

There is no job Americans will not do. The hottest, most difficult, dirtiest and dangerous job in the world is rooting terrorists out of Fallujah. Marines are doing that job for $8.09 an hour. Steve King, US Congressman, (R) Iowa

I don't know how you jump to your conclusions. I can help you out with that. Dane has a talking point each day. Just one. Sometimes they repeat. Today's talking point is getting working people to quit their jobs and get ag work. It doesn't matter what you say, it will be turned around against you and twisted to fit Dane's daily talking point.
For example, I could say "Chocolate Sundae", and Dane would say, "Do you think Congressman Dana Rohrbacher should get $20.00/hr to work at Friendly's?"

Conservative or not, Dana has been sucking the government teat all of his adult life. So has tom tancredo. He has not worked in a wealth creating business in his career.
He has worked as teacher or a legislator for a vast majority of that career, and worked for a think tank(a non-wealth producing endeavor) the rest.

I'm practically in love with Congressman STEVE King of Iowa!
Not to be confused with Peter King, of NY.

When I was in college I got a truck steaming cleaning the inside of garbage trucks one summer. This is in 100+ Texas heat. I was paid minimum wage.

There is no job Americans will not do. The hottest, most difficult, dirtiest and dangerous job in the world is rooting terrorists out of Fallujah. Marines are doing that job for $8.09 an hour And there are 17,000 ilegal aliens doing that.
Also, military veterans do get benefits that would make Mr. King's politically convienent $8.09 an hour much higher.
BTW, are you going to apply for a vegetable picker or janitortial job tomorrow and if not what is a "fair" wage in your opinion, so you can tell the farmer or janitorial operator how to run their business.
BTW, your husband is a doctor, IIRC, should I tell him how much he can charge?
What is good for the goose is good for the gander.

How many RINOs have a lifetime ACU rating of 95? For some, you need a ACU rating of 150% or you are a rino.

Jail employers of illegal immigrants. Yep let's put Farmer Joe in the can for the crime of hiring people to pick his crops so that they can go to market.

That's the only idea that's better than a wall. Even so we still need a wall and massive enforcement. (We are at war after all)
