Frankly, I think it would be a bit of an embarrassment and I can't see it helping her.

She's been living on the sympathy votes and you can't see who this would help her? lol I wonder if someone pressed for an early release in hopes of keeping her from being voted off.

Actually this was asked in the news conference with one of the producers and he unequivacably said -- "we will not show Kellie's father being released from prison until the final RESULTS show, and then only if she is one of the last two performers."

'Idol's Ryan and Paula Disagree on Feud

Tue Apr 25, 3:21 PM ET

"American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest says he and judge Paula Abdul aren't speaking to one another, but Abdul calls reports of a feud "ridiculous."

Seacrest told People magazine last week that his relationship with Abdul was "awkward."

"I don't know what the deal is. It's very awkward," he was quoted as saying.

The 31-year-old Seacrest, who openly spars with "Idol" judge Simon Cowell, told the magazine: "Simon and I go back and forth with each other, but it's in a different way."

Asked if he was speaking to Abdul, Seacrest answered, "No."

Seacrest also said he hadn't talked to Abdul about the apparent rift.

"You know, I walked past her dressing room the other day and there was a group of people gathered in front of the door, so I can't even talk to her," he said.

Abdul dismissed reports of off-camera animosity in a statement Tuesday to The Associated Press.

"Reports of a feud are ridiculous," the 43-year-old former pop star said. "We are one funny dysfunctional family. There's nothing but love."

Any tension between the "Idol" host and judge might have come after their separate appearances on "The Tonight Show."

In Seacrest's March 30 guest spot, host Jay Leno joked about Abdul's "loopy" behavior in an "Idol" episode, to which Seacrest replied: "Well, have you listened to her album?"

And when Leno playfully asked whether Abdul had been drinking alcohol, Seacrest said, "Hey look, I don't look in their cups to see what's sitting before them on that table. But at times I feel like we have reeled her in."

During her April 10 appearance, Abdul shot down rumors that Seacrest was dating "Desperate Housewives" star Teri Hatcher.

Looks like all is not so rosy in AItown. "He only kisses the mirror," Abdul said. "And honestly, do you think Teri Hatcher is that desperate of a housewife?"

He didn't actually skip her, he just didn't wait for Randy's applause to die down before he introduced her. If you weren't looking for it, it was real easy to miss.

(Carrie) Her debut album exceeded triple platinum. That's MORE than Kelly Clarkson's first two albums.

Not to dismiss Carrie's success, but Kelly's second album "Breakaway" has sold over 5 million copies alone.

I think Carrie's debut album has sold more than Kelly's, though.

Sure was. I missed it, and I record the show on my DVR before watching it! Played it back a few times and still missed it. ;-)

Hi Jonny. It sure looked to me like Seacrest skipped introducing Paula, but Texas2step said he did. Whatever happened, he barely acknowledged Paula last week.

"You know, I walked past her dressing room the other day and there was a group of people gathered in front of the door, so I can't even talk to her," he (Seacrest) said.

This has a ring of truth to it. But then again, so does Paula's "We are one funny dysfunctional family." :)

Thanks for the ping Jonny, and when you say "not to dismiss Carrie," we both know how true that is. :)

SirLinks and Veto! -- if one insists on comparing the former AI contestants in such a way as to pit one against another, then here's the deal:

Obviously Kelly's debut album was the highest selling until Clay Aiken's debut album came along the following year. His was the highest-selling AI debut until Carrie's 'Some Hearts,' which has been certified 3x platinum. I don't have the most up-to-date figures at my fingertips, but Clay's debut album sold somewhere in the range of 2.7 million to date. Because certifications are made on the basis of units SHIPPED, not sold, Clay's debut album could eventually reach 3x platinum.

Kelly was the ground-breaker for everyone associated with AI. Labeled a "reality" show winner, she had to face and overcome more skepticism from the music industry than anyone else. Bear in mind that AI was a surprise SUMMER in 2002 on what was then the last-place network.

Kelly's debut album sold in the range of 2.6 million to date. Her second album, the Grammy winning 'Breakaway,' has sold over 5 million domestically and well over 10 million worldwide, and is still in the top 20 nearly 18 months after its release. It's comfortably on track to hit 6x platinum soon. There are four big hits off that album, including the Grammy-winning song 'Since U Been Gone.'

Kelly is currently working on her third album, and she will be doing a short two-month tour primarily to try out new material before going into the recording studio.

Carrie is on her way to an excellent career. She has been welcomed by Country radio with open arms, and that's the single biggest reason for her success to date. As long as she continues to turn out songs that the format wants to support on radio, she'll be fine.

As Jonny can attest, I'm not a big fan of Carrie's, but I have happily tracked her rise in Country music and couldn't be more pleased with her success. I see no reason why Carrie must go through her career being compared to Kelly and vice versa. One is pop-rock, the other is country. Both seem to be fine young women who are willing to put the hard work into their careers necessary to make them long-lasting. We don't need to put one down in order to support the other.

They are a funny dysfunctional family. Heck, it's hilarious that Seacrest would find it difficult to get past the crowd around Paula's door. If he really wanted to talk to her, I doubt something could have been arranged. ;-)

In my post 7,652, 4th para., it should have read: "Bear in mind that AI was a surprise SUMMER hit in 2002 on what was then the last-place network."

Correcting that typo gives me a chance to add a postscript: Back then, no celebs wanted to come anywhere near the show. Now they are lining up to be on it. The groundbreaker always has the toughest row to hoe.

That or go back later, after the booze distributors left! ;)

So, what do you think the show tonight will bring? All slow songs or will there be some up tempo songs?

Every season so far, Paula has given the top 10 girls a gift of jewelry. Last week the girls were wearing the star pendant Paula gave them. (I don't know if Paula gives the guys jewelry gifts.)

That's where Paula got the idea for putting her name on a jewelry line. She's gonna make a bundle off it. Heck, I'm even interested in that star pendant, which she said will be among the items sold on QVC.

Dysfunctional family they may be, but Randy, Simon, Paula and Ryan are becoming extremely wealthy thanks to their involvement with AI.

OK here is the list from the “Insider” that sees the rehearsals each week. Been accurate in the past. If correct then a lot of the spoilers were WAAAAAY OFF.

Anyway — Performance order :
Katherine, Elliot, Kellie, Paris, Taylor, Chris

Songs:
Katherine - I have Nothing
Elliot - A Song For You
Kellie - Unchained Melody
Paris - The Way We Were
Taylor - Just Once
Chris - Have you Ever Really Loved A Woman.

Said the girl you would think would bomb totally blew everyone away (most likely Kellie). Said Taylor and Chris were also great.

Take it for what it is worth. If it is correct then we know the guy is who he says he is. He has been correct in the past.
