He looks like he belongs in the movie "Pleasantville"...

Queen again? Yuck. Can't they find different artists to do?

Paris? Who will butcher Bohemian Rhapsody one of the hardest songs in rock to pull off?

Maybe if she uses her talking voice!

Holding his fist in front of his shirt, grabbing it and exposing (exploiting) that scar.

For a while there, I thought he was going to tear open his shirt, fall to his knees, and yell STELLA in his best Marlon Brando falsetto tone.

I didn't see the season with Studdard, so I am not familiar with his voice. What he's doing is a good thing and if he can keep kids and young adults off the streets and away from gangs, he may serve a greater purpose.

That is quite a lofty prospect. Last week Katherine's high notes left a lot to be desired.

Yes, but the judges all drooled over her performance last week. I thought it was terrible. Going to be an interesting night it seems.

"1. Kellie--Strawberry Wine--Deana Carter"

That song isn't gonna work very well for her although my wife and I have commented that Deanna Carter is sort of who Pickler reminds us of, not so much in her singing style but in her image.

"2. Mandisa--She's in Love with the Boy--Trisha Yearwood"

Bit monotonous but should get the audience into it since they can sing along on the chorus.

"3. Bucky--The Little Girl--John Michael Montgomery"

Kind of a downer but within Bucky's ability & comfort zone.

"4. Chris--Amazed--Lonestar"

That'll probably be okay for Chris.

"5. Elliot--I Do (Cherish You)--Mark Wills **This was also sung by 98 Degrees"

Elliott's voice will sound nice on this song, but I fear it may be a snoozer.

"6. Katharine--The Lucky One--Alison Krauss"

I hope she can pull that off. Potential disaster.

"7. Paris--JoDee Messina--Burn"

Decent choice for Paris if she puts a little more zip into it than Messina's version.

"8. Ace--I Swear--John Michael Montgomery **Also sung by All 4 One"

Good choice for Ace. I know some people don't like it, but there's plenty of opportunity for Ace to work the camera with that.

"9. Taylor--I Like, I Love It--Tim McGraw "

LOL Taylor will be back to his old self with this one and really workin' it. Should be a crowd pleaser. But he really should be singing great songs originally done by great singers instead of covering big celebrity small talents.

Snicker...I could see him doing it.

Agreed. Ruben seems to be a decent guy. His voice is pleasant, mellow and smooth. It's probably more in the general style of a Nat King Cole or Mel Torme than the typical guy singer these days, only he's not as good a singer as Cole or Torme.

It almost looks like we are seeing him in black and white and everyone else in color.

Ha! That's exactly what it looks like.

If you take your eyes out of focus, you can't tell where Pee Wee ends and the building begins :)

Grin...I'm surprised he got to sing on the Today Show. Normally the contestants booted off AI get to make a round of local morning news shows, some radio interviews, that kind of think. The Today Show is quite a plum gig for that geeky little guy.

FWIW, for the second time in a week, the local FOX station ran hit pieces about Pickler, both wondering if she's playing dumb. Both concluding yes.

This is the same station that has had nothing but praise for fellow North Carolinians, Chris and Bucky. And the same station that fell all over itself trumpeting Fantasia and Clay Aiken.

That's not a good sign for the Gherkin, IMO.

Jonny, more and more this thread is a refuge. I'm getting so I can't stomach politics or many of the topics posted on FR these days.

I don't think it takes too much saavy to figure out Pickler is a phony. Unfortunately, the mostly young AI voters probably don't see through her.

Hi, Wolfstar :)

I didn't realize Pee Wee got to sing too. I don't remember ever seeing an Idol reject sing on the Today Show before. I guess they figured it's one of those "train wreck" things--you can't help but watch :)

Me, I'm on the Duke Lacross thread........LOL.

Yeah. I only visit a handful of threads myself. I hardly post an opinion on a random news thread anymore. I just don't need the aggrivation :-/

Was there any particular thread that made you feel this way today?
