Jr's XM show recap.......
The best part was Jr doing an imitation of Richard Childress and he sounded JUST LIKE HIM!! It was hilarious. They answered a bunch of questions. Who would you want to play you in a western - Jr: Clint Eastwood; Elliott: Vince Vaughan; Jr said Jack Black should play Steve Crisp and they had a lot of laughs over that. Jr and Elliott told a great story about Big E (they both called him Big E during this one) at Bristol. Elliott said Dale gave them all this "fatherly" advice before the race, telling them to take it easy, keep out of trouble, keep the fenders on, etc. He told Elliott "you've got a great car, you could WIN this race". Then, before the first lap was over Dale bumps Elliott and turns him sideways! Jr said that later in the race, Jr was a lap down and Dale rode by him and Jr purposefully scraped his car down the entire side. Dale sent a message through his spotter to tell Jr if he touched him again, he'd whip his a$$! Jr and Elliott laughed and laughed, it was cool!
Jr said he saved his car in turn 1 once. Jr said he likes starting from the rear as he likes to pass everyone. Elliott said he likes starting from the front because he said he is lazy. They also talked about Paul Menard and how well he did on Monday. Elliott said he has improved a lot and said he has good equipment. Jr said he comes from a family with money but you would never know it. He is really nice guy.
Jr did a Wrangler photo shoot today. They joked that Jr looked pretty and that they must have worked on him a lot today during the shoot. They said a 3 hour shoot can drag into 9 hours. Elliott said jokingly that they will ask you many times if you want something to eat. Elliott said the Tylenol commerical was his favorite. Jr likes that one too as he gets to work with Elliott and other. Jr said there were a lot of hot extras today and he got to work with some of the same people as before. They talked about the Chevy commercial and the beer on the head scene. That scene took 4 takes and they had to change shirt and fix his hair each time. Jr and Tony Stewart's scene was shot together, separate from Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon's scene that was shot together. The two scenes were then put together for the commercial. Jr said this is a little behind the scenes info.
Josh bought a new Tahoe. They joked it was his first car with an inspection sticker. They talked about whether charcoal or gas is better grilling. They liked charcoal. They talked about if you could trade places with any one who would it be. Jr said Hugh Heffner's gardner. LOL! They talked about XBox or Playstation - which is better. Josh got Xbox 360 from Jr for Xmas. Josh said it keeps him from drinking. Jr likes Xbox.
Emails:
1) Will the sport maintain traditions like back in the 70s? They said to take each generation as it comes.
2) Should Nascar have a race in Kentucky? Jr said track too rough. Elliott said he did not like to test there as too rough.
3) Jr's club in Charlotte? No name yet, will open this summer
4) How many times will Jr visit Paducah. He said 3 or 4 times and will race there. Ken Schrader will bring the cars and Jr will test and decide which one to drive.
5) Car or pickup? Jr likes a pickup truck.
6) Homecooked meal or take-out? Jr likes homecooked and Elliott likes homecooked as long as he does not have to clean up.
7) Movie Theatre or rental - Elliott likes movie theatre with buttered popcorn. Jr likes a movie theatre too.
8) Where is the XM show taped from? They said the original Jr Motorsports building, upstairs from the late model cars on the Dirty Moe Acres.
Elliott stayed the whole 30 minutes, told Jr if they ever needed anyone to come share their wisdom and advice call him anytime - "I'm just up the road"
At the end, Elliott read the parting script in a weird voice, it was funny and then Josh pipes in and says something like "any friendship with Elliott Sadler inferred during this program does not translate to after the program" in a disclaimer type voice. They were all dying laughing in the background.
No fair funkleing on the race thread.
You have been warned. :-\
That's what I thought. So let it be written. So let it be done.
I think Pharaoh (Yul Brenner) said that
Yep. I had a Brownie Kodak as a child. I took a pic of a moose at Yellowstone from about 5 feet away. I thought my folks were going to die. The moose seemed to be fine with it, and I know I was.
Got my first 35mm in jr. high (Exacta with Zeiss lenses) and went to Yashika (120) in high school. Been a Nikon snob ever since... It's all my dad's fault. Kinda scary to carry around your net worth in a camera bag :o)
It's okay, I bought my son a Fuji digital for his birthday, and daughter is getting her own Nikon S3 for hers. Heh... now they're doomed to the same future I was ... Just remember... f8, and be there.
We got a week or so and folks can fair funkle 'til the cows come home. ;-)
That was a great movie, btw. Loved Yul's hairdo and garb..
LOL, ours is up all night now too. She loves the cold weather, I can't stand it.
More horsepower!
more traction!
Maybe if there is no snow. :)
Snow tars / chains fer Bristol?
That would be a classic! Talk about your caution pics starting in triple digits.LOL
Horsepower is not a big deal if you have no traction!
It ain't gonna snow at Bristol!
This one is gonna be good. Self-cleaning tracks like this and Dover are good!
Forecast looks OK for Sunday, but Saturday?
I have too much softball on saturday to worry about racing!
I'm in a league, and coaching my kid in another league. That's one reason i like the Sat Night racin.
I've got two grandsons playing LL now, but at least that's all during the week.
Usually, that "welcome" is sarcastic to the newbie. But, the NACAR is real and down to earth folks.
They put up with me, who still forgets which direction to screw on the lug nut.
