St. Pat's Weekend it is!!
Yummers. You know how to live!
BTW, Smithwicks is an ale, became my favorite drink while I travelled in Ireland and is only now being imported to the U.S. It's the best!
How are things in the Shamrock area, rte? More rain?
I like Irish folk and country, usually pass on the rock.
So, here's a disc I recommend, *Down the Old Plank Road* featuring the Chieftains and American country and bluegrass artists.
Normally, I'm not the biggest fan of the Chieftains but this CD is one I play over and over.
It's a cold day here!!
Will it snow?
It tried to snow... but I don't we will get a lot.
It was a Happy Day!! I am an Orangeman that wore a lot of green, and proud of it. It is a Great Christian Holliday. What struck me here in my neck of the woods, everyone was wishing me a happy Christian Holliday. Nothing like Christmas, where it is "unlawful" to celebrate the birth of Christ. Why is this so?
Are you in or near some mountains? How exciting! I would love to see photos of a snowy mountains in Ireland. Some of my ancestors come from Tip, not sure exactly where the others originated.
There are mountains in Sligo, I saw them from the train.
I saved some photos from your PM's visit to our White House. Are you interested in seeing them ...or would you gag?
I dunno... I guess there will come a time when they outlaw Paddy's Day too!!
I live in Mayo, there are some fine mountains in the west of the county. I love Sligo, also - great scenery!
God help us! :) I thought Sligo was beautiful also, but the people don't seem to warm up to guests.
I remember taking a walk in the Mayo countryside on a hot day in July; I even got sun-burned. LOL.. A California girl going to Ireland to get a sunburn!
HEHE, I guess if this Irishman went to California it would rain!!
HEHEHE. Well, let us know if it snows in Mayo! As I am now off to some yard sales, etc., and will check in later.
"Take me home to Mayo
Across the Irish Sea
Home to dear old Mayo
Where once I roamed so free.
Take me home to Mayo
And let my body lie
Home in dear old Mayo
Beneath an Irish sky!"
I'll be going out in a while meself, seeya La Enchiladita, and thanks for that!!
Loved Smithwick's as well. We might be on to something!
Can it really happen? ;)
Yes, and small bags of brocato for the children...
Yummm! Never mind the kids! LOL
My ancestors on my grandmother's side are from Arranmore an island a short boat ride from Burtonport.
When the Anacréon was anchored off the coast from Burtonport some of the Islanders rowed out to the ship and asked a French priest on board to baptize some of their children. One of those children baptized was James Napper Tandy Gallagher, born 1798, baptized about September 16, 1798. James' wife Kitty O'Donnell, b. 1802 Arranmore Island, emigrated with her children to Beaver Island, Michigan. Kitty died in Beaver Island, MI Feb. 17, 1905.
thank you, you too..
